Did Douglas win because his mother recently passed away and he was so motivated to win that he trained like he never did before or did Tyson lose because he didn't train for the fight and was smoking weed and getting some Japanese *****

A mixture of various circumstances that created the biggest upset in boxing history. Tyson was not trained well, not focus and add to that an opponent who was determined and fought a great fight tactically as well.

One Guy was on his Way Up and one Guy was on his way Down.

Buster had put a winning streak together and was finally getting himself motivated to put the time in the gym. When is shape, and motivated, he was quite talented.
6'4, 230, long reach, Powerful Jab, Solid power, and athleticism...add in motivation/determination...that's a lot to handle for someone that is 5'11, 215 with a short reach...let alone someone that is of that size and is no longer as motivated and trained as he once was.

This was post-prison but still interesting given Glenn was Tyson's sparring partner and Tyson became this type of fighter going into the Douglas fight as well.

Douglas owned Tyson that night, I find it hard to make excuses for Tyson. Despite his trainers looked like a bunch of morons, I don't see how Mike could have suddenly forgot everything he was tought over the years. And I don't think he was all that out of shape compared to other fights i've seen. Buster was just the better man on the night, I'm never going to say Buster was better than Tyson perioud, that would be bull****.
