Fletcher was saved from a beating and I agree with the stoppage. Props to Fletcher for venturing to the UK and taking on another undefeated fighter
:rofl:rofl You all let your patriotism affect your judgment on the fight, only a few honest posters in this thread didn't show bias. Billy Joe was always going to win this bout handily, different class. Credit to Fletcher for coming over.
D Fighting a decent fighter in aus. seems to be to big of a jump for Fletcher, before Saunders he has only fought one half decent fighter in his pro career.maybe this loss says more about the culture of fighting bums to get your wins up then not being prepared to fight at the level that the wins take you to
its hard not to think, one or two warm up fights in the uk would not have been a massive help. york halls an intimidating place as well, especially when its packed like it was yesterday.
Poor kid was out of his element. Big reality check. Saunders isn't even a top 3 domestic UK middleweight, and he proved to be several classes above.
Typical way we bring our fighters up.........feed them with easy beats......build an impressive fight log.....then step up & get blasted out........for me it will never change unless we start taking out fighters to places like mexico & match them with tough mexicans who will push them all the way instead of skinny little phillipino's who just show up for the coin.
Jarrod NOW knows the level he has to achieve if he wants to be eating at the top table , good on him for coming and seeing for himself what has to be done , as for those screaming premature stoppage ? well yea i agree but anyone with eyes could see the difference in class between the two at this stage in their respective careers and whilst Billy Joe was only just starting Jarrod was in heaps of trouble after being caught with that mighty left , if it had continued i fear Fletch would have more than a few bumps and bruises this morning . Ps Kids like this are always welcome here the lad , his old dad and trainer are a credit to you .
I sure Fletcher regrets the early walk out of the ring and knows he wasn't robbed in any way. He let himself down a bit there. Maybe just the emotion of going all the way over there and getting his ass handed too him so badly and not expecting it.
i think he should stay in the uk and try and get some sparring and maybe a couple more fights. he came across as a good guy and maybe hes better than he appeared on sat night. with his am record you have to say his development as a pro has not been good enough.
