I am an afficionado of the chin checkers but if anyone's getting stretched it won't be Martinez. In fact I think Martinez at 3-1 to stop Chavez inside the distance is a good bet, not exactly a sure bet but pretty close to it. Pavlik was getting hit by Martinez with ease, at least late in their fight, how hard do you think Martinez will struggle to hit the inferior Chavez? Not hard to see how this fight will play out in my humble opinion:bbb

We'll see man. I'll eat my crow if I have to, but ever since Martinez burst on the scene, I have felt he was being WAY over-estimated by boxing fans. I don't think Chavez is a tenth of what his old man was, but I think that's all that will be necessary to beat the limited, light-hitting Martinez.

This I acknowledge! Martinez has zero respect for a live underdog and Junior is not written off as yet. Actually, he has the size ( if he can use that in his advantage), the power ( swinging to the body and up comes to the head, smothering and punishing opponents against the ropes with the full strength of his body, from legs up to his punching muscles), he has the courage and he should have the backup from Chavez Sr and Freddie.

Actually I will go back in my words and Junior has every reason to be pleased with himself defending the WBC MW Title... There is no doubt whatsoever that Martinez was not willing to defend this title aginst the contenders. The reason Martinez does not respect Junior is partially due to jealousy since his upbring was far worse and harder than Junior's and that is not Junior's fault.

In sweet science terms, I cannot see Junior taking those punches though, even if his legs hold him up, again, cuts, bruises, swellings, shut eyes and bloody noses may lead to the referee intervention.

well said... :thumbsup However you all make it sound like Martinez is some sort of defensive wizzard here he is not a Floyd Mayweather this guy gets hit and hit allot by slow wide guys even such as Macklin and Barker who both landed at a 40% connect rate when they fought Martinez sure both were stopped but in the 11th now if Chavez can put that kind of work in and land that high of a rate Martinez will be knocked out by the 11th himself

A lot of people are worried about money punches but as one humble learner of the art and the sweet science, I am more concerned with stances, way to lead, hit and not get hit, and Martinez is very efficient even though Macklin and Barker got to him. The whole problem is that with that size of a CW, Junior bobs and weaves and doesn't fight tall and he ain't no Chavez Sr, Tyson or Smokin' Joe. He crouches and he's gonna get hit, mark my words. Skin gets progressively red when tissue is hit several times on the same spots, the dangerous spots - under and over the eyes, eyelids, lips, ears also, scar tissue - tissue marked opens up and cuts appear... I can't see Junior coming out of this without a cut and cuts in this logiv means loss inside twelve.

I am not saying he isnt going to get hit what I am saying is Martinez is going to get hit back as well and the difference will be that Chavez can take better shots than Macklin and Barker, that Chavez is a Big really big Middleweight and that Chavez is 11 years younger and wants this win just as bad as Martinez does

Problem is Martinez has no respect for this kids ability and that is going to bite him in the ass tonight. I hope its a good fight I hope we have a nail bitter I just have a feeling that things are going to change the moment Martinez gets nailed with a clean shot.

Junior was being outlanded 9 rounds to 3 in the stats and punches landed against Zbik but still they looked forward for quality and that is very hard to make out. Zbik hit Junior with quality jabs and right counters and at most, got significatly tired by the amount of bodywork Chavez Jr had done that far. But we well know that Zbik doesn't punch with authority and Martinez does.

Now, on the point that Martinez backs out in a fight due to the opponents charges, I have never seen since the Margo fight. No wonder at the point Chavez Jr connects, Martinez would have connected three to four times more...And thus, the problem with wounds and blood is all pointed in Junior's direction. remeber Pavlik mask of blood and in a period he was getting back to the fight, kinda pushing a punch who got SM outa balance and knocked down... Martinez starts to triple up with str8 shots and Junior's face tissue won't resist, mark my words.
