this is the same **** after Floyd-Cotto, people want a rematch because Chavez made a good account of himself Sergio DOMINATED the fight and would do so in a rematch
Too one-sided for a rematch, in my opinion. Chavez Jr. would have to prove against someone else that he could handle Martinez's movement, speed, angles, etc., in order for a rematch to be appropriate. But, money talks, so we'll probably end up seeing one immediately anyway :/
It's foolish to ignore how a fight ends...... Shades of Pacman v Morales, Gatti and Ward didn't start banging until the 5th or 6th round.
No, he doesn't. But in the words of Will Munny (Unforgiven) "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it. " It'll probably happen.
I seem to differ than most here. The 12th round is all that most people are going to remember about this fight (not much to remember about the first 11). It was one of the more exciting ending rounds I have seen. That being said, everyone wants to know what happens if Chavez comes to fight and throw his hands early in the fight. Martinez beat the living **** out of Chavez, yet it never seems like Chavez was every hurt. Sure, he looked like ****, but he kept coming. Now that Chavez knows he can hurt Martinez, I think a rematch would be a whole different fight. I for one hope it happens.
Max Kellerman running his mouth at the end of a broadcast is not the official HBO management position on what fights to show. He is still in hype mode. We were damned lucky to get some excitement out of this. Most questions are now answered and making a rematch on the prospect you MIGHT get another exciting 12th round doesn't sound like good business sense to me. Not sure Roach would allow his fighter to go straight into a rematch.
