This question always has to be juxtaposed with the fact that if it had been a 15 round fight, both guys would've trained for 15 rounds, and paced themselves accordingly.
Don't guess this based on what happened in the 12th.Anyhting could've happened differently.

Had it been a 15 round fight Martinez would have trained for 15.

Still wins a points decision. I'm not sure if anyone around that weight can stop Chavez, his chin really impressed me.

I still think Chavez would have left it to late to stop Martinez, I mean he wouldn't go all out in the 12 th round but instead wait for the 15th round.

Chavez scores a knockdown in the 15th but still loses 1 to 14.

***gots on ESB make threads about "WELL IF THE FIGHT WAS 20 ROUNDS!!!"

If it was a 15 rounder, Martinez would've opened up and got caught like that in the 15th not the 12th, so there you have it. Stop creating drama, Martinez was all over Jr. in the final seconds.

If it was 15 rounds Martinez would have paced himself better.

By the logic of saying Chavez would have won a 15 round fight, you could say if it was only 11 rounds it would have been a shutout with no knockdown for Chavez, if you want to go down the road of ifs, buts and maybes.

Martinez was recovered, if anything Maravilla would have stopped him in the next 3 or got a UD. Jr was gassed.
