in the end the better fighter got careless and got caught by the fighter who probably had 15 or 20 pounds on him.

New boxing rule: if you knock a guy down after he schools the **** out of you then you really won

    Martinez clowned Chavez.

Chavez may have done better without the hurt beak, but he got totally outclassed.

I was a Margarito fan,but holding Martinez' loss against him is like giving Khan's win over Barrera any credence. That was a perfect display of how to deal with a much bigger, come forward fighter and if he fought Margarito in a fairly balanced prime for prime style at 154 or 160(and with more experience) it would've been a different fight.
No wonder he was knackered,it was a fabulous performance and given how much energy he was wasting on anger,I'm surprised he didn't start to gas a round sooner.

Julio looked like he was 6ft 200 lbs, lean muscle. obvs he wasnt but thats how he looked.

Martinez tryed to put him away, but his chin is iron.

Julio went all out cause it was the 12th round, he knew he was losing, he had to ge the KO to win, Roach told him that, he landed, Sergio, who's been down before gets back up, starts slugging it out again.

he was too legit to quit, great fight, great 12th, great ending, both boxers deserved their pay if not more cause they put it all on the line.

Chavez finally did something in desperation and frustration and gets a knock down....has plenty of time to capitalize, but he can't/doesn't

Sergio boxed jr's pink panties off....fought his fight, beat Chavez at his own inside game, and fought fire with fire in the 12th.....an epic win

Anybody can be knocked down but the way they come back is what it matters. Martinez came back to almost stop Kelly Pavlik after being outa balance and floored by the same. I have no doubts he would do the same to JCC Jr if the Knockdown had been in the midstage of the fight. But I sense something about Sergio which is not good for the Division and that is very well illustrated when he wants both the best piece of pie from 154 to 160 - a real MW Champion would never go down in weight to eat that piece of pie and he's willing to do it against either Canelo, Mayweather or any other guy dominant in the Super-Welters.

Dude nobody gives a **** about Macklin...he gave a great effort, respect to him...but he got KTFO. If you wanna under sell Junior or dick ride Macklin IDGAF, but none of this changes the premise of my initial post, nor does it validate yours.

I disagree Dr X, Martinez has touched the canvas before, so I dont think it affected the magnitude of his victory.

If anything, what the knockdown done was save some grace for Chavez Jr, which pretty much made a fitting end to a great fight.

    Nah.

Sergio put an epic schooling on Chavez for 11 rounds.

And the 12th round just made it a little better for Chavez.

The 12th round showed the heart and grit Martinez has in him. He is tough as nails..

OH PLEASE!!!! this fight was like the old school fights back in the 50's and 60's champions used to get knocked down all the time and show attrition by surviving look at Marciano and Walcot and Holmes my god I saw when he fought Erie Shavers and that Snipes fight Holmes was out on his ASS and came back at the end of the round.

    1. Anyone who gets knocked down by a one-dimensional fighter who took in 10, 000 punches before knocking you silly isn't great.

    2. Had that happened in the middle rounds Sergio wouldve KTFOd. Being out of balance and being hurt after a KD are two entirely different things.

    3. Canelo and Mayweather suck, they don't even wanna fight an old Pacquiao.
