Canelo Alvarez has been unlucky to find a decent opponent

    I think it's time Alvarez fights an opponent worthy. He has been unlucky what with Paul Wiilliams getting into an accident. Unfortunately, there's not much competition at 154 other than Mayweather, Cotto, Lara, and Trout.

    Look at his competition:

    Josesito Lopez - A natural 140 pounder who had no business fighting him

    Shane Mosley - An old shopworn zombie with nothing left but his chin

    Kermit Cintron - His best opponent, who lost a UD to Carlos Molina

    Alfonso Gomez - Tough journeyman, but nothing to trouble Canelo

    Ryan Rhodes - A euro level fighter at best, and nothing special

    Lovemore Ndou - Always fell short against decent competition

    Carlos Baldomir - An old man who shouldn't have been in the ring

    Luciano Cuello - Chavez Jr got a unanimous decision before Canelo fought him

    Jose Miguel Cotto - Miguel Cotto's less talented brother, who hurt Canelo in their fight

    There's nothing wrong with fighting weak competition, but when is it time he fights someone decent, who would give him a good fight.

    Alvarez has the talent, but i feel now it's time he fights somebody good, and not a 140 pounder, or somebody who shouldn't be in the ring with him.

    I think maybe they should put him in with Kirkland for a start. Or Angulo. He beats both but it would be a good start.

    I have to agree.

    But watch GBP just give him Maidana or some ****...

    Funny thing is the guy is talented to take on the best. His punch placement and power are something spectacular to watch IMHO.

    Honestly Canelo is being protected by Jose Sauliman

    James Kirkland
    Erislandy Lara
    Carlos Molina
    Gabriel Rosado
    Miguel Cotto
    Cornelius Bundrage
    Austin Trout
    Lukas Koency
    Zaurbek Baysangurov
    Sergey Rabachenko
    Vanes Matiroysan

    All of them are top Junior Middleweights, Canelo hasnt fought a single one of them.

    There's nothing unlucky about it, when your the cash cow and everybody wants to fight you there's no excuse for constantly facing weak competition. He didn't have to fight Lopez last night, he could've fought unifications with Trout and Bundrage or even faced Lara all were more deserving and all were more competitive fights than Lopez.

    Alvarez's resume is absolute dog **** and it is by choice.

    He could have fought Molina, Kirkland, Angulo, Lara, Trout, and even ****ing Cotto.

    he needs to fight a top guy in his weight class for once. a guy like carlos molina would be good for me. i kno thats not good enuff for most ppl an i see why but there is plenty of good 154's that he shoulda fought instead of lopez

    To be fair he was going to fight kirkland, Paul Williams and victor ortiz is not his fault the accidents, injuries and loses of those guys

    if i was floyd, i would stay away from canelo. the kids power is amazing esp those body shots. ouch :!:

    WBC won't allowed unifications, apparently, and that's why the Trout fighter never came off.

    Bolded. Canelo tried to get those three for this fight.

    Kirkland - got injured then overpriced himself

    Trout - banned by Sulaiman (old fart doesn't want unifications)

    Cotto - Canelo offered him the Sept.15 match AGES ago, even before Williams was mentioned. Cotto chickened out and has done it again for Canelo's next match in december. Cotto is ducking him.

    So when Carlos Molina beat Cintron, why was Cintron awarded the shot at the title and not Molina? That was a pathetic move to be honest.
