Is it just skills, athletic talent, IQ, wins, intangibles...etc...etc

Example some people may feel Ward is elite because of his skill set and performance against other "so called elite fighters" as opposed to Linares who may be an elite talent but not an elite fighter... another example Chavez Snr not the most talented but his wins define him as an elite fighter...

    Thoughts please brothers...

Elite fighters can change their game anytime in the fight. Ward has proved he can do this. Mayweather can do this.

Fighters who can take on all styles, and come out on top.

Consistently boxing and being successful against (at least) world class opposition. Their skillset allowing them to be successful against the highest standard of competition.

Combined with the above, longevity is a sign of an elite boxer.

Moving through the weight classes and using their skill to beat the bigger, world class boxers is another sign of an elite boxer.

Someone you can find a way to win when under the big lights, the big fights. That is the reason alot of people don't think Zab Judah is elite, He has a hard time in the big ones.

Btw I like Zab, not talking trash about him.

Skills/ability & the fighters you beat & when in their career you beat them are probably the most important to be classed as an elite fighter.

Which is why I have always rated someone like Erik Morales highly.

Elite fighters to me are fighters that take risky fights where they can lose but win big.

In terms of talent I meant athletically...outside of his stamina of course...he had SKILLs...however...inside game was superb and chin formiddable...

If you disagree thats fine...but please break it down to me...(PS I have watched him fight many times).

one who cleans up the division he's at and wins other big fights on other division either below or above his. I dont care if his skill is **** or he has the power of the almighty paulie m, as long as he wins and wins big on those multidivision fights.
