Not sure why Vitor got this fight. I think Dana is running out of fighters for main events.
To be honest. I dont think vitor can beat Jones. I am pulling for vitor 100% but i dont think he has what it takes beat jones.

If he does manager to beat him. where does that put vitor.

It's weird, while I have nothing against Jones, I'm always hoping that someone would give him an asswhopin. Strangely enough, I feel the same way about Floyd Mayweather Jr. I find myself always rooting for the other guy, even though I realize that they have little if any chance of pulling it off. So far, I'm disappoint. :verysad

Depends if Bones gives him a chance to strike on the feet. If he does I wouldn't be shocked if Belfort gets the KO. He's still got fast hands and huge power.

But if Jones wants an easy night at the office he'll just take him down and punch and elbow him to pieces - Belfort won't be able to stop him. Watch the Machida fight, as soon as Jones became uncomfortable standing he took him down with ease and splattered him.

Ah, and to answer the actual question - a lot of fans and fighters are relieved to see Jones is beatable. Dana is secretly cheering. Jones doesn't get an immediate rematch.

Belfort as champion really opens up the title picture at 205lbs again, there are a lot of guys that could beat Vitor who Jones has already beaten easily - a lot of competitive fights.

Long term, I think Jones would be back on top within 18 months, excluding injuries, falling out with management or any other bollocks.

If Belfort won he would be the new Lightheavyweight Champion of the world! With that said I doubt that will happen..

reading this post made me laugh because i feel the sameway, not as much for Jones but Mayweather, lol

i see Belfort having a tough match up with Jones. Yes Belfort is still very fast of hand, however so is Jones and Jon is so long and uses that length so well. As well Jones has great kicks and knees and Vitor's kicks annd knees are limited IMO. Thus i see Jones winning standing up and for sure on the ground. Yes without doubt Vitor could take out Jones as even a fighter as good as Jones can mispercieve and mistime a action/reaction and Belfor is the kind that can take one out really quickly if they shown vulnerablity after getting tagged and stunned.

Like alot of Mayweather fights however, i dont see it happening.

If i was Vitor i would waste too much energy in the first round but do so wuth a mission planned only on trying to catch Jones with a flurry of punches after hopefully tagging him BUT before that i would pretend that i was more SCARED then however SCARED i was of Jones for REAL.

In Belforts case he should be scared of Jones as its his BEST chance for VICTORY. I would go in BELIEVING that Jones had the ability to wack me around like a **** puppet and prepared to do the best i could to deal with that straight up :bbb:bbb

I do not care how angry he is with Jones. There is no ****in way he wants to see his poster boy lose to a MW not named Anderson.

Champs that get KO'ed in the first round don't get immediate rematches in the UFC.

I say that, because that is the only way and time Vitor could do it.

I don't think he's a poster boy any more, Dana would never have blown the situation up in public like that if he was. A private meltdown, yes, but turning him into the villain and scapegoating him for the collapse of UFC 151 is not what you do to a man you want to push as the face of the company.
