I am still not impressed with Sergio Martinez. Does anyone else feel the same?

Congrats maravilla Martinez ! What a spectacle! Lots of adrenaline! Although I'm not a boxing fan I never thought he could witness a fight with such intensity.I was surprised!

 

Martinez did what he was supposed to do, but he was exposed in a sense he's wild, his face is a magnet for jabs, he only really throw straight punches, and im not sure he can form solid offense without his opponent following him in straight lines, with his hands down style. A fighter that has a edjucated jab and uses angles instead of straight lines and has decent defense exposes Serg ala Ward and Mayweather, Cotto I also feel Martinez is tailor made for him, he would jab him to death, what i saw vs Chavez is that the wild one dimensional 1 2, fighter doesnt posses half of the boxing skills that Cotto has

I disagree. There is opposition, it is just that Martinez chooses to fight the robotic less skilled type of opponent, I.E. Barker, Macklin, Dzinziruk, Chavez Jr. etc. There are actually guys with a little athleticism, Pirog, N'Jkam, guys guys with good technical skill, Golovkin, Pirog, guys with power, Golovkin, Pirog etc. Martinez simply refuses to fight them, all the while claiming they won't bring him any money. Pirog, or Golovkin wouldn't have brought Martinez any less than the million and change he got to fight Barker, Macklin, or Chavez(before he gets a piece of the PPV upside).

Macklin isn't the same type of fighter as Barker, or Chavez Jr, but he is at that same lower tier level.

 

If that's the case then you basically don't have respect for most fighters. Before the fight Chavez was considered a dangerous threat for Sergio. Now that Sergio has beaten him, all of a sudden people start picking out Chavez's flaws and make it seem like Sergio was picking on a bum. Sergio may or may not be on the same level as Ward or Floyd in terms of overall skills but he is without a doubt in the top 5 P4P list. That itself should demand respect.
