From round 1 to 11 Martinez didn't trade punches with Chavez Jr.

Many people in this boxing forum said that from round 1 to 11 if Chavez Jr. had started fast and had done the same thing as he did in round 12, he would have knocked Martinez out in the fight.

    That's so ridiculous!

From round 1 to 11, Martinez didn't fight Chavez the same way as he did in round 12, didn't many of you notice that? Martinez moved fast and moved a lot around the ring and threw hundreds of jabs and straight left before bouncing back. He didn't fight toe to toe with Chavez from the start to the end. Martinez decided to trade punches with Chavez Jr only in round 12 and then he got caught and almost got knocked out.

So people who said the thing I mentioned above should think about it again, OK?

After all the smack, Martinez hit and run all night. Don't blame him though, had he tried to trade with Jr. he might have been stopped.

WTF is the TS talking about? Sergio was boxing exactly the same (albeit more fatigued) as he was the entire ****ing fight. Circle to his right, jabbing and pot-shotting. All that happened was Chavez actually tried to hit him with his right as Martinez circled and viola. It's because he was truly hurt with that first shot is why Martinez went into fight or flight mode.

money knocked hatton out by fighting smartly. if jr wasnt so big sergio could have ko'd him too without fighting toe to toe. you just need enough accurate well placed punches

why fight toe toe if you don't have to especially facing a bigger guy on fight night. I bet that if it was a rule of not gaining more than 10 lbs on fight night Martinez would have fought toe to toe and tattooed that ass worse than the fight we witness last night

It was Chavez who failed to trade punches with Sergio because he was either too slow to react or he gets popped every time he opens up.

is it that hard to give a fighter some credit. Martinez traded and backed up Jr at some points. The fight was a one sided beat down for 11 rounds and often Jr was the one taking a step back. I give massive respect to Jr for hanging in there until the end and almost turning the fight around

exactly like Sergio has to wait to get hit in order to trade punches.

Why would SM trade with him when he's smaller? I don't get stupid logic from people. Yeah, let me try to slug and trade with a guy who can take me out. Or, I can tap his ass all night and win 9-11 rounds.
