Sérgio Martinez vs Rocky Graziano

Too much blood flow required to massive cajones leads to mental lapses from time to time. I thought after the 11th round we were only going to get a thorough schooling, never expected an appearance from Tony Montana. Lunacy took hold and carried the day.

 

Why not? Sergio beat better competition than Marcel Cerdan.

 

Barker is wank. He had one okay win going into the contest and was negative as ****. The win means nothing and Sergio looked poor in the fight. Not a notable defence at all.

 

"Could" he? The reluctance by classic to accept Martinez as a class champion is ridiculous.

 

Not really, he nearly got stopped by a man he was apparently levels and levels above and who he could dominate for 11 rounds.

He's class, but not as slick as he thinks and doesn't have the greatest chin.

He'd beat Graziano but he really isn't that good. Neither is Martinez.

What have you seen of Cerdan besides beating up a washed-up Tony Zale and being thrown to the canvas by LaMotta? What have you seen of Burley besides that 10 minute footage with the precoucious, meaningsless written commentary? What have you seen of Williams at all?

You really don't have a clue what you're talking about, besides the fact that these are mythical names fighting in an mythical era ("But Futch and Moore said...").

It's doubtful that either Burley or Cerdan would campaign at MW today to start with. They'd actually both be smaller than some WWs in today's scene.

 

Lewis/Rahman. Greats never even get hurt by someone they're dominating and leagues better than. Especially not in their late thirties. It can't happen. It's impossible. It's impossible.

 

If Graziano gets his right hand home well enough sure, otherwise no.

Martinez would thoroughly rip Graziano to shreds.

Too good, too fast, too hard to corral.

Chavez got the chance to mount a rally because Martinez broke his hands and exhausted a ton of wind beating the dog**** out of him for 11 rounds. There comes a time when that makes you tired, and being tired against a 190 pound puncher who is desperate to put you away is going to suck.

Rocky wouldn't have hung around to be that kind of problem. If it was him in there with Sergio in the 7th, he'd have been well finished. And that is my prediction.

Chavez has never been seen as a 'puncher' before. Didn't drop Zbik or Rubio.

 

If a Ward vs. Martinez fight gets made Andre will be top 10 all time after it happens.

 

As for Martinez vs. Graziano, not a fan of either fighter's abilities, but Martinez is the more skillful and its his fight to lose. More often than not he'd win, but he'd get laid out a couple of times if they fought a handful of fights.

 

That's not what I'm saying. My dispute is that Sergio is being given credit for a 'great' performance.

So go **** yourself.

 

I don't know where people get that. They must not be watching the fights. Martinez' chin is fine. It's his posture that's messed up. He's always off balance, so a slight breeze will knock him down, but he hasn't been really hurt since fighting Margarito 12 years ago.

I'd go so far as to call Martinez' performance very good, especially his defense, but 'great' performances end in knockouts.
