Wlad is already into the fourth round where he's down 2 rounds and has a minor cut after being hit with a right, he has managed to win a quiet first round Wlad is up against a larger opponent for once, he's just not being able to cut it with his jab as he's up against a jabber as well who's taller, Emmanuel starts raising his voice and gives Wlad a rousing speech about why he's champion and why he will go down as a G if he take's the fight to his opponent and brings up the pressure and turns it into a brawl. Would Wlad build the courage to go streets? Discuss.:good
No. I really hate to sound like a hater. But he can't, and if he tries, he probably gets starched. Not only due to his chin and inability to inside / middle distance fight, but because I think he has stamina problems if he is 1. Forced to fight at a higher pace than he himself wants to set 2. Constantly throwing power shots 3. Nervous/scared 3 of his toughest fights (Peter, Brewster, Purrity) evidenced that when he fought an opponent that just kept coming, and the fight got ugly, he just seemed to gass and wither, in 2 of those fights he seemed to go down from barely being hit, looked exhausted. So no, I say if he tries to take it to the streets against a serious opponent (not a mormeck or someone he would flatten) he'd get done in. The above are reasons I actually think Fury, Hellenius may be problems for him if they can impose their size and manage to land a few decent shots it will be very difficult for him, though neither would stand a chance at outboxing him. Vitali seems to have similar problems, I think it's either due to their size, not being used to the pace, or because (it might be just Vitali) but they have deviated septums which lead to difficulty breathing? Because Vitali looked absolutely finished at the end of the 6th vs Lewis. Like the pace of the fight was too much to him to keep up.
id say coming back from crushing losses to sanders and brewster with a win against peter shows he has balls a plenty but vitali had a damn good kickboxing pedigree before he started boxing so i'd back him first in a street fight
By "street" do you mean welcome 8 of his friends into the ring to jump his opponent from behind beat him near unconscience then pull out a 9mm letting off 11 shots while only grazing him once in the leg? Unlikely i think.
I think he probably could to an extent depending on who was infront of him. It's whether he could then maintain it if his opponent didn't wilt or fought back. Lets remember generally he is calculated and catious so if he did go 'street' expect it to be in one or two bursts rather than some sustained attack.
Two knockdowns where the result of rabbit punches. But Wlad recovers after the knockdowns and fights back. Wlad won this fight. It was a very very tough fight.
I watched the Klitschko documentary over the weekend. They show a good amount of amateur and early fights of Wlad. He had a much looser, more aggressive style and would go after guys and take them out. After the early losses as a pro he rebuilt his entire style of fighting into the technical beast he is today. So, to answer your question, I'd say yes, he could get looser and let his hands go if he was being pushed. When you have someone who naturally lets their hands go, even if you can train them to box, they often revert to brawling when their mind checks out and their heart takes over. Arturo Gatti is a great example. Late in his career he was trying to box more and brawl less, but he gets in deep water and starts brawling again.
