Williams was more competitive in the first fight than JR was. Personally I think it will be more one sided. There is a reason JR. didn't open up earlier. His face explains it so I don't have too.

Poll coming, hold your damned jewels...

    No...

    Same result...

Unless Martinez gets stupid and overcommited wanting a KO letting Jr land that one dangerous shot

Jr was just too slow.. plain and simple.

People keep claiming that JR would have to open up or it would be the same result. If he opens up who does that favor though? I think it favors Martinez, not the 'hope to get lucky' JR.

And people keep treating Martinez like he is unhittable in exchanges. Don't mistake Chavez Jr's inability to pin Sergio down for Martinez being able to both actively use defense and offense at the same time. He doesn't. He's either attacking or defending, not both.

Say what you want about Cesar's son but he remembered to keep his hands high and tight doing a damn good job at it

if chavez jr. opens up more in the rematch it'll probably be a worst beating for him... the 12th rd probably gave chavez jr some confidence going into the rematch and he'll try to open up more early but with martinez being fresh and rested in the earlier rounds he'll catch chavez a lot more and could KO him with a well timed counter

I mainly agree with this. JR's hopes lie on opening up more, but as Roach pointed out, Martinez was simply too fast for him.

I tell you this Herm... under my observations Martinez sat on his punches in the 7th round only and that left Jr bloodied and disheartened. I posted in IB's thread that the punishment is coming, but Martinez, either due to the hand or the knee injury didn't really follow up but switched back circling. And he usually follows up by surgically rearranging your face putting your ass down, Jr. escaped the beating but it is coming in R13.

any word on when sergio broke his hand? what round?

anyhow...if you mean a brutal one punch ko...i don't think that will happen. williams never saw that punch. chavez sees the punches coming and does his best to not let any get past his head.

the reason i ask about the hand is i do see sergio doing a much worse number on him and possibly/probably causing roach to end it. just not sure when he broke it but it did seem that he stopped sitting down on his punches. if that doesnt happen, its worse, but more along the lines of a "you knocked my sister up" sustained beating and not an early one punch ko.

I don't think he would win like that, but he would win easier. He just has so much more to work with, than the very one-dimensional Chavez. I don't know how much more one sided it could be though, as long as he stayed on his feet the whole time, though.
