So true.. with that strong body of his and chin... Give me a break. Montreal Duran beats hearns more times than not. He gets inside, does damage, and game over. Even in the fight they had... you could see hearns was willing to trade with an old out of his weight calls duran.. That was a terrible strat unless he got him out of there early. Do you really want hearns exchanging with duran? That doesn't seem like a good idea. It worked and duran was caught.. but using that strat.. Duran would also catch hearns and it would be game over.

Did you watch the fight? Hearns wasn't moving around the ring and jabbing.. he was standing flat foot'd and bombing with duran with some in an out movement. Did you actually watch the fight? Hearns was there to be hit and really used the wrong strategy with duran... He should've stayed on the outside the whole time.. instead he got suckered into a machismo war with Duran and came out on top. If he employed that strat every time.. Duran would certainly come out on top plenty.

 

A Duran circa Palomino\Leonard certainly has the potential to domuch better than the failing legs 154 one does.He did set the bar really low, mind you so that's not surprising

i favour Hearns more often than not, but lets not take things too far.Duran was **** against him, even sitting on his stool disinterested gazing into space before Tommy came to the ring, like he was on valium or something.No intensity, nothing like a prime Duran.

154\160 needs the right kind of come forward styles to do well against, but 147 one was still a great fighter that would a good fight against anyone more often than not, even if he does get the odd blowout against the likes of Robinson or Hearns.

 

For clarification's sake let just point that Hearns also beat Duran in a even more conclusive way at LMW :!:

 

It just amazes me how people didn't notice that Hearns employed a very dangerous strat against Duran. Sure he won, and in that respect it worked, but I don't believe manny thought that was the best way to fight duran. Hearns is just lucky it wasn't a motivated peak duran. HEarns was there to be hit as long as the fight lasted. He was standing toe to toe with duran and that wasn't his best way to win imo. With his chin and being vulnerable to the body... not a good idea imo and duran would certainly win some fights.

 

So I'm guessing you believe that was a good strat against Duran?
