Daniel "The Real Deal" Geale is the IBF and WBA champ. Chavez has had his chance. A rematch will only result in another beating. Martinez must fight Geale if he wishes to cement his legacy by becoming undisputed champ. Two titles on offer. Come and get them.
Good match, although we shall see for how long Martinez' knee and hand needs to heal, in the meantime Geale could and should face his mandatory Golovkin, it's a fight long overdue for whoever holds that WBA "super" belt.
Winner of Geale vs Golovkin faces Martinez.Chavez moves up in weight to get ktfo by the boys his own weight.
Oh no love for this matchup. People in the Aussie forum think this is a mega fight just waiting to happen.
If Geale wants it, he needs to win a big fight in the US first otherwise he doesn't sell anything for Martinez. Why should Sergio fight Geale for his usual amount when he could rematch Chavez for twice as much. I don't think we'll ever see Sergio fight the other top MW's in his career now. He'll rematch Chavez, then move down to 155 or 154 and fight Alvarez, Cotto, and maybe Mayweather and call it a career. Geale, Golovkin, Pirog, and company need to establish their own legacies. Personally I'd advise Geale to drop the WBA title and defend against Soliman, Mundine, and Murray rather than lose badly to Golovkin.
I'd like to see this fight. I doubt it'll come off with the rematch talk, though. I think Geale-Golovkin is more likely. Plus, the WBC will just strip Martinez (again) for attempting to make a unification fight and probably giftwrap it for Chavez, once again. atsch If the fight happened, I'd take Martinez by late stoppage. Geale doesn't have much of a punch, but he can definitely box. However, his style works well against guys like Sylvester and Sturm, who just on their earmuffs as defense; however, Martinez' movement would cause Geale trouble. I like Geale, but I don't think Martinez would have much trouble with him. Geale's questionable cardio and tendency to drop his hands makes me think he'll get stopped.
geale needs to get something happening in the states - hes done everything right in his last 2 fights, but if he doesnt keep moving forward it may as well be sylvester and sturm holding the 'titles'
If I was Geale I would try to fight the winner of Hassan & Kid Chocolate, it's more likely and another belt.
