Sergio just plain got cocky and decided to trade for the last minute , got put down (big wow) not the first time , what really hit me was his spirit to keep punching and not give in , what a warrior he could have easily made it a total shutout , but mistakes happen sometimes , the rematch will haVE NO MISTAKE , EXPECT A CLEAN SWEEP
PS who wants to see a canelo fight ? I do , the ginger is a great fighter and could have some great moments in a fight w sergio ,
At what point did sergio trade with chavez in that round before he initially got staggered with the right hook?
Sounds accurate, Martinez was going for the KO, when he could have just outbox him, and when he got hurt it reminded me of the 1st Round of the Marquez-Pacquiao fight, when Marquez fought till the end of the round, It also remind me of when Morales decided to change to southpaw and trade with Pac on the 12th round, Martinez went WARRIOR MODE!, Jr did too but he couldn't keep it up for long, at the end of the round it was Martinez who was landing flush!!
He wasnt trading, he was boxing and got caught with a right hand, chavez walked him down and let off a combination and caught him again. He got caught, dropped and almost got put out of there , plain and simple. Stop making excuses about it.
That 12th round has left people with such an unsettling feeling no matter what anyone says. just admit it, no one likes to see their boy get dropped and punch drunk to close out the show.
i wasnt making an excuse i was stating how proud i was that he didn't give in , your one to talk after this thread http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=408071, how bout you let it go first there homie
I think it was a little Bit of wht the TS said but also due to martinez Tiring out a little... No one can stick and move like Martinez did for 8 rounds let alone 12... But he def wanted to go for the KO. There was some bad blood in that fight
I think he must have had a hurt left hand going into the 12th, because re watching that round he just lets JR close the distance on him without really throwing a meaningful cross until he gets hurt, in which he opened up. Not sure if he really did or not but it seems like he had a hurt hand at least since the beginning of the 12th. Imo. Also I think he was a bit fatigued himself after the performence he put on. I think the 10th or 11th rounds was one of the most active rounds in his career i think. Thats a lot for a 37 year old fighter.
