It would be a competitive fight, remember Juan is a great technician.

Marquez mifht be a little too small but there would be some epic exchanges. I think it just might be too much pressure from a stronger fighter with a chin made of iron

My head says JCC but my head can go and take a **** to itself.
I'm not going to admit that my favourite active boxer will get beaten by the only Mexican ATG I didn't like just because common sense and the fact that prime JCC only toiled with slicksters dictates that I should.:bart
Juanma by early stoppage and that's that.:rosstheboss:finger5

It's an interesting match at 130, where Chavez hadn't quite peaked, and was close to Marquez' peak weight.

Any higher and the odds tilt heavily in Chavez' favour, and at 140 it would be a landslide points win.

Competitive fight guys. Chavez isn't guaranteed the win at all in my eyes.

You know Caca about boxing, and that become apparent the more I read your one liners.

First off I pick Chavez prime for prime and head to head.

Second of all, Marquez would'nt be stupid enough to go toe to toe with Chavez like he did Katsidis.
A great like Marquez feels out and studies the opponent before deciding if going toe to toe is prudent. Check Marquez schooling of Pacquiao in fight
3, to know he's smart enough not to engage toe to toe as he did Katsidis.

My point is that your statement of "Remember the Katsidis fight" has absolutely zero bearing on a Marquez-Chavez fantasy matchup.

If Katsidis can catch JMM the way he did, then Snr sure as **** can - except in this scenario JMM wouldn't be getting up.

It goes to show how clueless some ESB members are.
Katsidis is a bigger puncher than Chavez.
That being the case, how do you explain Marquez gets up from a Katsidis murderous punch but does'nt a Chavez shot? :nut

I think JCC was most dominant at Jr. Lightweight (he destroyed Roger Mayweather at that weight and only beat him up when they fought again at a higher weight, for example). So that weight would be worst for JMM simply because it's the best JCC.
The Jr. Lightweight fights I would most like to mythically see are JCC v. Sandy Saddler, and Alex Arguello against either of those two. What wars those would be!

JMM could make it close against the drained version of Chavez at the end of his 130 reign...and might just pip the older, fading 140-147 version..of course before he got to shot otherwise it's not worth talking about.
