    At 140 lbs.

Buchanan should n't have any problem being effective at a slightly higher weight than normal.

Hatton isn't in Kenny's league.Kenny jabs his head off en route to an easy 15 round decsion.

I think Hatton could give Buchanan trouble over the first third, with his quick feet, awkward mauling and likely greater strength.PLus Buchanan being a relative slow starter at times and an ordinary puncher who will be more concerned with establishing range than administering an offensive onslaught early.

He doesn't have the talent or depth to his style to maintain it though imo.Buchanan was extremely tough to pin on the ropes\stop from regaining ring centre, would take the vast majority of the last 9-10 rounds and end up making a ****** of him towards the end, probably stopping him late via exhaustion\frustration aided stool retirement or ref stepping in with Hatton in trouble.

Also like against Mayweather, Hatton might find that his grappling serves him well early, but he ends up being figured out on the inside and also being the lesser man there.BUchanan was never the type to linger much there if he could help it, but he had a lovely right uppercut on the inside and shortened his combos up very nicely.Ricky would find himself being outpunched there as well, eventually.

Indeed. Buchanan's class sees him through to a victory over the distance. Very competitive fight and one the fans would enjoy watching.

Ken Handled undefeated Welter Donato Paduano .with ease, by not confronting the additionaL strengh of his opponent. he kept him turning to such an extent he almost tied his legs in knots, Ricky however did have much better footwork than Donato, so should enjoy some successes in finding Ken with the odd burst, but not consistently enough i feel to build a platform for a grinding down and ragdolling of Ken, particularly at lt Welter, Ken was Flint Hard mentally and would not become demoralised. if he finds himself trapped he would not be adverse to becoming an aggressive matador and shoring up an escape route with a few well placed planted shots. Ricky would keep trying but may become frustrated as his commitment becomes a countering asset to the will-o-the -wisp buchanan . Ken on points for me

Some really nice posts here. Ricky was certainly a welterweight (at least) on fight night and did have very quick feet.

Still, he'd try and maul Ken here. He'll get the mauling part down, but won't have the nuances that Duran brought to the table and I agree with the rest of you guys, Buchanan should have too much in the way of skills, although if Ricky's size does tell and he can land some of his hardest body punches who knows?

Buchanan on points in a closer bout than you might expect.

I never actually though Hatton was a big 140lber really, flea.He could barely cope with someone like Collazo at Welter- because of relying on physical tools to win fights- who was no big weight drainer either.

Collazo was a long guy at the weight though, and Ricky did rely on his strength to cling onto another big 140lber, Urango. Let's not forget Ricky only had a few weeks to prepare for Collazo.

It was his strength and ability to maul guys that saw him so strong at the limit IMO. Collazo was at least a naturally bigger guy than Ricky. Ricky had little to offer when the size levels were evened up. He couldn't maul guys and was too diminutive everywhere else to outbox them.

Shortarse though, and I imagine any chance of him being a fair sized light welter went with his struggles to get back down to the weight after his binges.

Stevie, Ken's showing in his loss to Duran is just as good a barometer for Buchanan's superiority as any of his victories, IMO..Hatton can't threaten Ken as much as Duran did, and Ken hung with Duran for 13 tough rounds...and it took a blatant low blow to make it a tko defeat. On the positive side, Ken was superior to Hatton..nuff said.
