im getting real frustrated because i love how this guy fights, he's a beast and im just looking for him to co main or become a main event. Id pay for his ppv
his resume definitely shines but he's been a non factor for a long time now. he's becoming a waste of talent. he could have been in the mix at featherweight, lightweight and maybe even super lightweight for some time, instead of being on the sidelines participating in fantasy matchups.
I have been saying Gamboa is the future since i joined this forum in 09 and have been following him since he turned pro. I've had to defend Gamboa against many doubters, the many glass chin allegations, the many puerto rican juanma huggers, against others like San Rafael who swore on his life that Gamboa would not amount to anything and was just a hypejob, etc etc etc. Gamboa is the real deal and a future star and will get his career back on track, i know it. He is my favorite fighter.
Seeing Gamboa in the ring is just special. He has something that catches your eye but you can't put your finger on it. Its an intangible. The way he moves, rips through opponents... The speed, the power. I hate to say it but he arrogance glows off of his character. Although Lara and Rigondeaux have superior technique, they lack that Gamboa gene. That killer gene.
i'm with you man, since i joined this forum I been hyping gamboa as future p4p #1. me and my bro watched all his fights except a couple of the german ones since 07 and we're blown away instantly. he's got that special **** about him when you watch him that comes once or twice a generation, Tyson had it, Pac had it, Gamboa got that **** too and it's a shame he's been on the shelf for so long especially at his age he's got a short window to climb to the top and needs to start making moves asap if he ever wants to be what he can be.
Hopefully one day his handlers will wake up and start booking fights for him down here in south Florida where there's mad Cubans living. Gamboa is a great talent who needs to stay active.
Hope there's a Gonzo-PDL rematch down the line. But it's still one more champ on Gamboa's resume, a 2-division champ to be precise. So anyone with any update? Salgado plans were reported a couple of weeks back, what happened to that?
Haven't been following news lately... he signed with Floyd/50? Neither doing promoter work? Arum lawsuit ongoing?
Agreed. A lot of Nonito Donaire's previous victims have gone onto achieve much success and win world title, but short sighted people who don't watch boxing below the light welterweight division say "he's not got a pound for pound resume"
