I mean think about Chavez Jr vs Martinez was a sell out in vegas but Canelo vs Lopez was also a sell out in vegas. Many say Chavez vs Martinez would kill Canelo vs Lopez in box office. Well Chavez Jr vs Martinez was in a bigger arena i believe and Lets not forget Chavez Jr fought a top 3 p4p in which Chavez is an underdog while Canelo vs Lopez was consider by everybody a freaking mismatch in which it was but yet it still was a big sell out and Canelo vs Lopez break showtime rating records. I think of all of that Canelo shows he's a bigger draw and to do that vs an unknown way undersize junior ww that proved it.

I wouldn't say so the Chavez-martinez fight had more People there but the fact that alvarez won probably means hell have more followers now

Love him or hate him I have watched every single chavez Jr fight he's ever had. You all have too. Deal with it.

:huh Chavez/Martinez outsold Canelo/Lopez and drew a larger gate. You can add all those other circumstances that suit you, but to say last weekend proved Canelo a larger draw is just a reach at this point. I don't think Alvarez has headlined a PPV yet BTW.

If Canelo was such a huge draw, then why was it not a ppv?

I've watched three of that ***'s fights, two of which were undercards. You deal with that.

Well you have to take into consideration that one was PPV and the other wasnt. Also, that the whole Canelo card was way better than the Chavez card. I think Alvarez is more popular in the U.S. but Jr is more popular in Mexico.

Jr. drew more attention due to his well-built record and family name, but only for millions to see his ass skooled and save some (broken) face via a last minute KD. Canelo on the other hand is slowly but steadily building up his own name and fame, yes Williams got hurt, Kirkland went suing and Ortiz was upset so his opponent was only Josesito, but he already fought Mosley this year and planning to take on Cotto next May. He's dedicated, he's undefeated, he's still developing and has a much brighter future.

    Other way around.

Most people in Mexico can't stand Jr.

The Canelo fight had so many tickets left a couple weeks before the fight that they started to give tickets away. I'm sure a bunch were given out free, but they were heavily discounted weeks before the fight.

Still though, Canelo is the bigger draw. He is more popular in both the US and Mexico than Junior.

I guess what I tried to say was that more people in Mexico know who Jr is. IMO.
