His defining fight was the Pavlik one, which he was an underdog in and most were picking him to lose, and by KO

Then the one punch KO of Williams, another underdog W.

This is his biggest W as far as mainstream goes but the others are more important to his legacy, even if he didn't get dropped in the 12th.

    Not really.

And turbotime; check out my posts at the time, I picked Sergio to beat Pavlik, no brainer.

BTW last bit of my last post was a semi-troll :D

I picked Sergio as well (but admittedly, I'm a fan and don't really like Pavlik really) it doesn't change the fact that he was a decided underdog.

Just because you pick the upset it doesn't take luster off the win. Now stop trollin' :nono

For all intents and purposes, Sergio did beat the **** out of Chavez. The kd raised a lot of red flags, though. He took several big shots that put him on ***** street. This could happen to anybody, especially when you are tired. The problem is he allowed himself to be put in this position. Most supremely athletic fighters are flawed in some way. Sergio's flaw is his style keeps him in harms way throughout the fight.

He's an elite athlete, but not an elite fighter. Very good, though.

So he's not 'slick' is he? My point exactly.

He is very slick and he has a good chin. His problem is with his style, you are always going to take flush shots at some point when you are fighting too shelf opposition.

You can be slicker than snot, but when you fight with you hands by your side, your side, your defeating the purpose.

I think a guy with good timing, like GGG can take him.

I think the Pavlik fight and the last round of the Chavez fight, blood pouring from his eye and getting up to fight Chavez off of him proved that he is an elite "fighter"

No he's not. Close to it, though. He does have elite talent and athleticism.

If he was elite, then he wouldn't have problems beating fighters like Barker or Macklin.

I agree. He is not as slick as he thinks. I do think he has a good chin, though. He would be a better fighter if he kept his hands up.

Agree 100% but I think his chin is probably good rather than very good, but I'm splitting hairs :good

I agree that he is not as slick as people say. A man his age would benefit from a more conventional defenses. I do think he has a good chin, though.
