If Calzaghe had trouble beating a old version of Ward, Bernard Hopkins. How does he beat a young ward. Remember when Richardson said that about Dawson, it's the same thing with Calzaghe.

By the way I had Calzaghe beating Hopkins by 1 point, but it was far from convincing. I also believe that Calzaghe could beat the version of Ward that beat Kessler. The Ward that Fought Froch and beyond destroys Calzaghe. He's just learned so much in the tournament and has stepped up his game.

Bhops admits who wants no parts of Ward, but yet believes he can still beat Calzaghe.

I'm not a big Calzaghe fan so I don't know when his prime was, but we have to atleast admit the Calzahge that won a split decision against bhop gets destroyed by the current version of Ward.

Everything Bhop did to make the fight debatle who against Calzaghe, Ward can do better.

Not to mention he calmed down from holding, and head butting.

He knocked Ward on his ass I believe

That being said Calzaghe was not exactly a spring chicken at the time either (38 at the time) and had moved up to 175 to fight the Lineal Light Heavyweight Champion in Bernard Hopkins which Ward was unwilling to do in his fight with Chad Dawson and dragged him down to 168.

Im aware he knocked him down . But what relevance does it have to the arguement? Joe got dropped twice. Once by an absolute novice called Kabary Salem

I wouldnt call Kabary Salem a novice, he had 27 fights by the time he fought Calzaghe and there was a brawl at the weigh in before the fight which is why Calzaghe was trying to knock him out, got reckless and got knocked down but later went on to knock him down and win 9-3 not to mention the fouls coming from Salem (both fighters were deducted points in that fight)

the other time Joe got dropped was by former champion Byron Mitchell who was robbed of his WBA belt by none other than Sven ****ing Ottke and Joe got up from the canvas to stop Mitchell in that very same round.

The point is that Calzaghe did beat and "old" Hopkins, the same Hopkins that went onto dominate the so called "white hope" in Kelly Pavlik however saying just because Calzaghe had trouble with a rough fighter in Hopkins doesnt mean he would lose to Ward. Ward doesnt have the same Stamina as Calzaghe, nor the workrate, chin or power that Calzaghe had and Joe would likely outwork him to a decision. 8-4 type (and thats me being generous)

So when Ward gets knocked down its his fault but when Calzaghe gets knocked down its everybody else's fault but his own. Typical.

No it was Calzaghe's fault he got knocked down because he was reckless trying to hurt Salem and walked onto a shot and went down

Ward went down because he got caught flush

The point im making is that why woud Calzaghe have trouble with Ward just because he struggled with Bernard Hopkins when he was past his prime andjust moved up in weight to 175?

Prime for prime I'm not sure who would win, but the Ward who beat Dawson would beat the Calzaghe that beat Bhop.

  12. Salem wasn't a novice. He only dropped Calzaghe once. He's been in with Eric Harding, Antwon Echols, and Mario Veit. He also beat a a guy called Andre Haddock, although there is something fishy about that result.:lol::rofl:rofl

Im not arguing that point. The point in arguing is people bring up Bonne in a lazy desparate attempt to criticize Ward. He got cought, it happens to the best of them. The fact that it was only his 7th fight makes obvious Calzaghe nut's are starting to clutch on straws.

Joe actually did beat Nard....Nard made it a close fight but he came on late and gave away too many of the early rounds. Ward is definitely good....Nard was GREAT! So let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here. Ward is coming into his own...he's progressing nicely and he's added to his already stellar ring resume. But to compare him to Bhop in terms of "greatness" or even Joe is a bit premature. Styles make fights...Joe is also an intelligent fighter who is able to adapt...he's more busy and faster than Ward **in his prime** and at this stage Ward still has plenty of room to grow.

Exactly im not disagreeing with you but its a doubled edged sword saying that Calzaghe would lose to Ward based on his performance vs Hopkins
