lol when Ward gets knocked down, he sticks his tongue out, as if to say ahh, you got me, but not again.

i also believe Ward beats Calzaghe, he just wasn't that good in the first place.

Too many Calzaghe fanboys here. Although, I like Calzaghe a lot (went to his fights on 3 occasions).

    Lets compare.

Calzaghe (circa 2000) vs Ward (today) - They would be the same age and both would have 3 years as champions. Ward beats this version to a wide UD. Calzaghe would rely too much on his power and realise that his power doesn't carry up to elite level. Ward would outmuscle and tag him far too much.

Calzaghe (circa 2006 - 2007) vs Ward (today) - This Calzaghe is a smarter and more experienced Joe. I think this more of a peak Calzaghe. Not powerful but hits hard enough to hold opponents off. He's able to adapt. This fight would be a lot closer. I can't pick a winner for this fight.

Everyone that goes on about a peak Joe versus peak Ward don't know ****. Ward is still 28 and keeps getting better every fight. If he carries on this progress, within the next 2 fights he will beat any version of Calzaghe.

I'm afraid he currently beats any version of Calzaghe.

Honestly 2003-2006 was Calzaghes peak but kay sara sara

Ward if anything to me has shown more and more weaknesses the further hes gone on in his career

Darnel Boone - Whilst this was only Wards 7th pro fight he still got clocked hard and put down so questions of his chin will always be there

Mikkel Kessler - He put on a good performance but was tainted due to the headbutts and constant clinching which questions his mentality

Allan Green - Again a dominant performance however seeing how Johnson and Kessler put Allan Green away shows he lacks any sort of punching power at 168

Sakio Bika gave Ward his toughest fight to date and proved Ward cant handle being roughed up

Arthur Abraham - I actually gave AA the early rounds (1,2 and 3) showing Ward can be overwhelmed by a fast starter (which Abraham uncharacteristically was in this fight)

Carl Froch whilst only won 3 rounds on my card didnt do that much but Ward showed signs of tiring in the championship rounds

Chad Dawson was completely outclassed but considering Ward didnt take the chance to move up in weight to get a third belt in a second weight class puts question marks on how he would fare with a prime southpaw considering he skipped out on what would have been at the time a huge fight with Lucien Bute in a unification for the IBF

Andre Wards style is ugly, he has no power what so ever not to mention he wont leave his home country (hypocritical considering Calzaghe's career I know). Dont get me wrong, the day a supermiddleweight comes along thats better than Calzaghe i'll welcome him with open arms but im not sold on Ward yet and I dont think I ever will be.

Not hating on Ward because hes black/white/irish/german/american  just my honest opinion

I was actually impressed with Andre Direll when i first saw him fight in the early rounds of Froch and he could of gone onto some great things if he actually owned a pair of testicles

Carl Froch was put on the canvas. Does that mean he has a questionable chin to? Any fighter who takes it clean can be put down. The Boone argument is weak.

Even James Toney was never knocked out has been put down more than once.

Carl Froch got put down by Jermain Taylor, a former world champion and also is still the only person to put Kelly Pavlik on the canvas

Darnell Boone however is not on that level

Im not saying Ward chin is made out of glass but with that being said theres question marks on his chin :?

If he can avoid taking the big shots then all the power to him but he isnt indestructible

Another point when people mention the Mitchell and Salem knockdowns, they ignore that Mitchell rocked Joe with a monster body shot right before he knocked him down. Salem rocked Joe with multiple headbutts right before he knocked him down as well

On another note, what's with all the Ward-Calzaghe threads!? 1 or 2 I can understand, yet there's at least 5 every day!

Ward fought one of the roughest - Bika - at his own game. This was the Ward fight that showed me the guy can do it all and has a ton of balls

    He never fought Abraham :huh

    Neither is Calzaghe, who is?.

You can talk up Mitchell and Salem all you like but they were nobodies, left no legacy in the sport and are only remembered cos they are on Calzaghe's record.

Far too much is made of B-Hop vs. Joe Cal. Both were faded versions of themselves, and the fight was far from thrilling or convincing. It was a cash out bout, not a legacy defining one.

We'll never know what a prime Joe Cal would do against a truly gifted fighter. He demanded the crown jewels, so the fights were never made.
