Chavez Jr. cost 50 dollars to watch... so no, Canelo is not a bigger draw.

    :patsch :patsch :patsch

You know if you asked it honestly not arrogantly you wouldn't sound ignorant.

It WAS supposed to be a PPV, Canelo was supposed to fight Paul Williams who unfortunately suffered a serious motorcycle accident, hello, where were you a couple of months back? Then Golden Boy started negotiating with Kirkland who all of the sudden decided to join sue Oscar and join 50cent, then came he idea of Ortiz, big WW, but Josesito broke his jaw and will. Golden Boy was left with little time to negotiate a big fight, so opted to drop the PPV, give Josesito his career payday and put together a stacked card that delivered.

It was not a PPV because GBP thought the card wasn't PPV worthy, but it sure broke Showtime's record as the most watched fight in their broadcasting history. :deal

I have no idea where people started the "Canelo chooses LWW bums" thing, but this better end because it couldn't be further from the truth. He just fought Mosley, supposed to take on the bigger Williams/Kirkland (latter can still happen in December) and is looking forward to meet Cotto in May. Which will be a HUGE PPV event.

Exactly Canelo had 11k ppl to 16k Chavez jr but look who are their opponents for goodness sake lol. Are u meaning to tell me canelo wouldnt drew 16k or more if williams never had an accident and he would be the one that fought canelo? LoL. And as far as stack is concern SOO!! None of those fighters that was in the undercard are even well known to casual fans so lets stop there. We talking about Canelo and Chavez of who is really the bigger draw. Yes chavez jr did drew better then canelo did but again look who are their opponents. I mean come on lopez is way way way way way way way (can i keep going?) too unknown then martinez who fought on hbo 7 freaking time straight. And martinez was a big favorite to beat chavez jr while lopez was consider by everybody as being a smaller fighter that has no chance vs canelo in which last saturday night proved it. But look at the attendance again yes chavez jr drew more but it wasnt huge and again look who he fought compare to the opponent that canelo fought. And again if it was paul williams instead of lopez (if williams was never in a big accident), you wouldnt think canelo vs williams would have drew better then chavez jr vs martinez if canelo drew only 11k vs lopez and break showtime tv rating records? I guess u ppl are looking at who drew more instead of who the opponents both are facing.

Are u ******ed? Look who Canelo fought compare to the one Chavez Jr fought. And canelo was going to be on hbo ppv smart a$$ vs either kirkland or williams but kirkland wanted more money and is sueing i think vs gbp and williams was in a very big accident.

Canelo has one of the most corrupt TV companies in Mexico behind him, they are cooking ratings, giving away tickets and GBP has been putting him against mediocre competition, and don't get me wrong many people are calling for canelo to fight a live oponent, they now respect chavez and canelo is losing respect, at least that is what is happening here in Mexico

There's no way to prove that based on last weekend. Jr. had a much better opponent and fought in a bigger arena. Canelo fought another Jr. welter, but had a stacked undercard. I watched both.

This! Some people don't seem to realize a good undercard can have a huge impact on a fight's viewership.

And in SoCal. Mexican fight fans expect their champions to take on the best. Chavez Sr. definitely padded his record, but he fought the Taylors and ODLHs too.

Based on the fact that yes chavez jr drew more then canelo did but it wasnt by huge margin. It was 16k to 11 or 12k. <<<But chavez fought a much better well known opponent in martinez who fought on hbo 6 or 7 straight time and is the number 3 p4p and was a big favorite to beat chavez jr while canelo fought lopez who is really a junior ww and this fight was a huge mismatch in canelo favor. <<<But yet canelo vs lopez sold out and break showtime rating records. The same showtime that has mostly been the second best behind hbo when it comes to boxing. Btw wasnt chavez jr vs martinesz in a bigger arena? If so then i rest my case i thank you very much.

None of this says Canelo is a bigger draw dude. You're taking from it exactly what you want to.

    Look, you muppets.

Last weekend proved that if given the choice between option A, which is free, or option B that costs, most people will pick the free option, regardless of quality.

    That's all it proved.

In Mexico, there is not doubt that Canelo is the bigger draw based on television ratings, viewership etc, plus talking to family in central Mexico and visiting, Canelo is more popular. Canelo fights a bum and sells out the MGM on the same night Chavez fights P4P #3 Martinez, that has to tell you something.
