No even at Toney's best Jones foot and hand speed would still be too much for him.

The style is all wrong for him not to mention the level, Toney just doesn't have any advantages and I think if the weight making issues were worse than the Barkley fight, then it was because he knew it coming in and got head ****ed. At the time Jones was putting opponents out in a round or 2 that were going 12 with Toney

i know it's crazy how jones waited for toney to be 26 yrs old and in his prime before fighting him. and then after beating the **** out of him, he never gave him a rematch. jones obviously ducked toney.

Toney never, ever outpoints prime Jones (does anyone?) and he doesn't have much of a punchers chance either. He actually landed a couple of very decent blows in their first fight, but they didn't seem to trouble Jones in the slightest.

Toney was not old vs Jones .
Jones waited 4 Toney 2b unable 2 effectively make d weight , as Toney's eating disorder / "weight making problems" were well known by then , and more so 2 those in d know , which i m sure Jones and his handlers were amongst of .

Toney's weight problem was evident in d ring against Jones and only pieces of **** and idiots ignore it .

Jones would have probably outpointed Toney again @ 175 (but not @ 190 or above) because fatass was probably 2 drained even there after a year or 2 "at d weight".

But if Jones fought "168" James @ 175 , fatass stood a good chance at beating him some way there .

Fatass' main problem was his bulimia , and his partially justified effort of making d lowest weight possible 4 him .

However d 1st thing that would have helped him at it was 2 solve his bulimia , which he never did .

But even 4 a bulimic , Toney could have per4med better if he just climbed d weights a bit quicker than he did .

And Jones' cowardice was 2 wait 4 him 2b d most unable 2 make d weight that he ever was .

Jones did nothing that David Tiberi could not achieve , only in a different manner .

Reggie Johnson's per4mance was better than Jones' , he came really close 2 stopping a drained Toney , something Roy Jones could never do .

    Ez woz wiz Nunn ?
Nunn even had a bigger size advantage than Jones had .

But Toney , Curry and Starling caught Nunn drained , just like Tiberi , Johnson , Jones and Thadzi caught Toney drained .

Ironically , d only 1 whom d excuse of being drained was applied 2 , was never drained , except maybe against Trinidad , and that 1 is , Roy Jones .

At the time I thought yes. In hindsight, no. Jones, Jr. had way too much blazing speed, power, footwork, reactions, and condition. As skilled as Toney was, in the end, talent tells. And Jones, Jr. beats him every time until his talent wanes. Same with Hopkins. Jones, Jr.'s talent was too much to overcome. But once he slipped, then the more skilled guys could catch up with Jones.

    Short answer: no
A little longer answer: Yes he could've caught him, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think Toney could have made it a better fight against Jones if he were motivated and in great shape. A rematch at CW or HW would've been a good fight around 2003. We all echo Toney's problem with movement, but in totally great shape he gives any fighter a run for their money.

    D usual piece of **** pretending .

Jones could have fought Toney prior or after .
Fact is that he fought him when he did , in Toney's peak of inability of effectively making d weight , and never again .

A real fighter / sportsman would have acknowledged d truth that i st8ed , and granted Toney a rematch .

When there is anything that helps discredit a win , d winner will want himself 2 prove himself as d superior man and will want a rematch himself so there would b no arguments against his superiority .

But u do not know what superiority is , do u ?
Or just a pretending piece of **** ?

Rematches r needed many times even when there is nothing 2 take away from d win , just 4d winner 2b able 2 solidify his superiority .

ppl who pay 4 such fights such as Toney vs Jones , Leonard vs Duran #2 , Leonard vs Duran #3 , Leonard vs Benitez , Leonard vs Hagler , Leonard vs Lalonde , Leonard vs Hearns #1 & #2 (a catchweight) , Pacquiao vs Cotto , Mayweather vs Marquez , Ward vs Dawson and other fights still , r those who ruin d sport .

But u got 1 thing correctly : Jones' win does not count .
    Jones' inability 2 stop a dead @ d weight Toney does .
