Haye accuses Klitschko of using parliament to run away from fight

BERLIN: Britain’s David Haye yesterday has accused Ukraine’s WBC
heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko of hiding behind the political
process to avoid meeting him in the ring. “Vitali shouldn’t use parliament
as an excuse to run from the biggest and best boxing match,” Haye
was quoted as saying by the weekly Sport Bild, referring to the parliamentary
elections scheduled in the eastern European nation on
    Oct 28.

world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is head of the opposition party

The elder of the Klitschko brothers is head of the opposition
UDAR party and is currently on the campaign trail after successfully
defending his WBC title against Germany’s Manuel Charr on Sept
8 in Moscow. Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente said at the time:
“If Vitali gets a role after the elections where he can make a
difference, I suppose that would be the end of his boxing career.
“As a friend and manager, that’s what I would advise. The fight for
democracy and against corruption is more important than a fight
    against David Haye.”

Klitschko, 41, has won 45 of his 47 professional fights and has
previously talked about retirement, without giving a precise date.
Haye, who is 10 years younger than the Ukrainian, in July 2011 lost
the WBA title on points against Klitschko’s brother, Vladimir, in only
the second defeat of his career.

He had also talked of hanging up his gloves but got back in the ring
on July 14, beating compatriot Dereck Chisora in London. — AFP

Slick black Brit telling it how it is. As a boxing can you have to respect that.

Haye is doing a good job stirring up the German media. RTL wants Haye and Vitali will have a hard time declining a final big payday.

As a Fan of Vitali, i Hope he wins the election an moves on into politics as he loves, he strong willed an speaks his mind, i see him doing a good job, if his last fight, becomes his final fight, so be it......Hayes knows he has no chance an just beating his chest, why does he not call out wlad, who has no agenda but fighting,

Being this, if he has one more fight after winning the election good for him, i would give charr a rematch

Sure you would. Why would anyone want to see interesting matchup when they can see their hero in the mismatch?

What a cowardly viewpoint to have, it no surprise it came from a Klitschko fan.

You want to see a Charr rematch? An absolute joke of a fight and waste of everybody's time. Would you not want to see him knock out Haye and actually achieve a decent win on his record before retirement? The fact is you know he will get beaten by Haye and as result Vitali will only be remembered as starting out with a loss and going out with a loss. He will retire as a joke who spent 10 years fighting nobidies who chose to retire instead of facing Haye.

haye gets on my nerves something shocking..he had the chance how many times to fight vitali in the past??

even that dosnt matter the fact that vitali is about to move on with his life (being 41 and all that) and trying to help his country become a better place haye seems to think that he is more important than that lol...

david haye is the biggest ego narcissist i have ever seen...

Everyone knows that Haye is just noise. It makes good copy but absolutely nothing he says is to be taken seriously at all. I hope he gets the Vitali fight, and I hope he wins so he can fight Wlad again, redeem himself, correct the enormous damage he did to British boxing with the non-effort v Wlad.

Vitali should retire and stay retired. Haye had his chance at fighting Vit years ago but the guy is too old now and he has other concerns. Haye should move on instead of calling out a 41 year old politician. Vitali isn't even the world champion, Wlad is. If Haye wants glory he should be chasing a rematch with the reigning champion, not the retired number 2 in the division. All he has to do is become mandatory for the IBF or WBO belts. Alternatively, he could chase Povetkin's paper WBA title or go after the soon to be vacated WBC belt. He has a load of options to get a rematch with Wlad but it seems he still wants to go the quicky and easy route.

It's not even that difficult to become mandatory these days. What's he afraid of?
