Dont know if this is old news but just read on twitter that James Degale has signed with Hennessy. 1st fight on ch5 oct 28th.

What's your thoughts good/bad move? I like the fact he'll get some exposure on terrestrial tv good platform to change public opinion of him

Press articles saying first fight is oct 13th. To be fair thats a half decent card with Eubank, Daws and Galahad.

    What an ingrate...

Nah good move for Degale! Regular shows on TV and could piggyback off Fury's popularity and he's also a good talker-up of fights.

The Buture is Fright on Channel 5 for Degale

Wow, didnt see that one coming. Thought he'd sign with Matchroom.

Does this mean we'll get to see a Degale - Eubank Jr fight in future after the sparring incident?

If Hennesey pushes him the way he pushed Carl Froch, as long as there is still TV backing, it could be a good move.

James Degale may well win some fights, but he is a complete failure when it comes to promotion and actually having a following.

He has poor marketability, for some strange reason!

Degale switches to Hennessy stable in bid to get career back on track

James Degale has split from Frank ****** to link up with Hennessy Sports and will defend his European super-middleweight title on October 13.

The 2008 Olympic gold medallist has been out of action since stopping Italian Cristian Sanavia in April.

But the 26-year-old is looking forward to getting his career back on track with promoter Mick Hennessy, who also promotes heavyweight Tyson Fury.

Degale has fought just twice since losing his British and Commonwealth titles to bitter rival George Groves in May 2011 but the London fighter will headline a show at Glow in Bluewater in Kent next month.

‘I am over the moon with my new long-term promotional deal with Hennessy Sports,’ he said. ‘ I can't wait to get back in the ring on October 13 and show the millions of viewers on Channel 5 what I’m all about.

‘The new beginning is a thrilling prospect, so watch this space.’

Hennessy added, ‘I’m very excited to have signed a brilliant young talent like James Degale.

‘To travel to China to fight on away turf and be the only Brit to capture an Olympic gold medal in such difficult circumstances was an amazing feat.

‘To already be European Champion after only 13 fights is also an amazing achievement, our goal is to nurture and enhance James extreme talent to the highest level and for him to become not only a genuine world champion but also a cross-over star worldwide.’

Chris Eubank Jnr and Kid Galahad will also feature on the card, along with Phil Fury, Tyson’s cousin.
