Gamboa vs Salgado cancelled

This is awful. Gamboa is wasting his prime away with legal crap/silly decisions. Hope we see him back by early 2013. Doubt it though.

 

Does this mean the Dirrell fight is off as well?

 

Gamboa is an idiot. He was instantly charmed by the materialism of Floyd's lifestyle and he wanted to be part of it. He had a chance to **** Rios up and become a big star. Now he's stuck with a bunch of amateurs and his career has come to a full stop.

This is really bad news for all Gamboa fans. Gamboa hasn't fought over a year and this inactivity can really hurt him. He needs to sign with a " credible and established " promotion Company who will get him in the ring again. He needs to forget about Floyd and all those people, Cuban fighters belong with Cuban surroundings.

Wasn't his purse gonna be $1m+ for Rios? That's really really good for a sub welter. I remember Team Gamboa calling out Rios before the Murray fight. Are you saying the callout was coerced somehow?

I don't remember the call-out, but it's always been my belief that most of the trash talk statements attributed to Gamboa come from DeCubas or Oner, the latter of course being the main person with whom he had a contract dispute. The payday was nice I suppose, but I never saw any evidence that Gamboa was anywhere near as enthusiastic about this fight as Top Rank and Oner were, even scheduling press conferences, etc. before a contract had actually been signed. The company has never had long-term plans for Gamboa or Rigondeaux IMO, the former being demonstrated by perpetually keeping him away from Lopez and the latter evidenced by their matchmaking.

Needs to stay busy with world class fighters, Salgado certainly not elite, but Gamboa needs to stay active. Waiting out for promises and big money fights can do more harm than good. So 50 already quittin and TMT is no more? Is this true? Floyd and 50 beefin? I guess 50 found out the fight biz not as easy as he thought.

We've been screwed by this TMT mess. Hopefully information comes out sometime soon on the fighters who signed and their status. Whole mess is confusing, only certain thing is we're missing out on good fights.
