Did Hopkins really unify the MW division?

    Did Hopkins really unify the MW division when he didnt fight these two undefeated MW champs?


    29-0 (15 KOs) WBF MW champ Lester Jacobs

    and

    23-0 (8 KOs) WBU MW champ Antonio Perugino

    I wouldnt bet on these fighters beating Hopkins but with undefeated fighters you never know because nobody has beaten them to prove otherwise and we know Hopkins lost to C Mitchell.

    So did Hopkins really unify the division when he didnt fight these MW champs?

    Hopkins is a great MW, but the revisionism in his career is sometimes over the top. He won a vacant IBF title in 1995, but wasn't really the recognised champ until beating Trinidad. His opposition between Trinidad and Taylor was poor. He 'dominated' the division from 2001-2005

    His maybe greatest win and biggest name is a blown up Welterweight, but offcourse he is a afro american so he gets the pass. Where as Calzaghe is a guy who's been fighting bums all his life:huh
