B-hop wants to face Sergio Martinez in his last fight

    Former 3 weight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KO) still hasn't decided who will be his opponent in his farewell fight. "The Executioner" has expressed a desire to face current middleweight champion Sergio Martinezem (50-2-2, 28 KO). The American is certain he would easily beat the Argentine.

    "Martinez is very easy to beat, his style is made for fighters like me. he would look like Trinidad, Tarver and Pavlik in the ring with me. Trust me, I know what I'm saying", says the 47 year old, who lost to Chad Dawson on points in April.


    I know this fight won't happen ever, but how would a prime Hopkins look against prime Sergio?

    Prime Hopkins bullies Martinez en route to a wide UD or stoppage. There's no realistic weight this fight can take place at today. Depending on the weight, it would either be a matter of drained Hopkins working even less than usual or blown up Martinez looking foolish and getting mugged on the inside

    Quelle surprise, Hopkins wanting to fight a much smaller man again. But sure, I'd be up for this fight, providing Hopkins comes down to fight Serge at 160.

    Hopkins hasn't fought at 160 in a long time, with his body type I don't know that he could get down to 160 again and still be healthy enough to fight the next day...It's not like Bernard has the extra fat on his body to lose enough to make 160, not a very good idea for B-Hop.

    Why not fight Froch (who has been rejuvenated after blasting Bute, or Ward even (Bernard could still beat Froch but Ward would be a passing of the torch fight.) Either one of those would a big fight for his last hurrah. Maybe his people could talk Chavez Jr. to meet him at 168, that's a huge fight for both men, and a very winnable fight for Bernard.

    Let me guess, Hopkins wants another MW to move up to, what, a 170 catchweight?

    Aside from the Chavez rematch, it might be the most lucrative fight that Sergio can make.

    WTF, all those guys didn't or don't have great footwork like Sergio. They also don't possess the same ring generalship. BHop doesn't really think his skills, at this point, can match Sergio's. Bernard is just hoping his size and height will carry him which they won't especially if he's drained at 160. The old man should call out Kessler or maybe Bute instead.

    Yeah, he has long held Ward in high regard, as has Nazim. The fight makes no sense for anyone. While I do believe Hopkins puts up a more spirited effort than Chad did, this one doesn't end well for Bernard.

    A fight with Sergio can help Bernard bow out in an honorable note, and it's a winnable fight.

    There is a reason Bernard wanted fights with guys like Bute and Sergio, rather than guys like Dawson. Style-wise, they have more flaws in their southpaw stances that Bernard could exploit.

    Bernard-Ward....it would possibly wind up being the worst we ever saw B-Hops look in a fight, and he has virtually no chance of winning, regardless of anything else.

    Sergio he could possibly beat, and at least be extremely competitive with.

    And I wouldn't be surprised if Bernard could still outclass Sergio.
