Well we all know why he took diuretics. With that much water weight to lose its an obvious choice. The weed though was just silly!
If he's rolling out of bed at 6 in the evening and having interrupted, inconsistent training times, then it's no surprise in addition to that he was having trouble getting to bed. It's the biggest fight of his life, and he's undergoing the routine of a first-year uni student - getting high and having bowls of cereal during times he should be having his dinner, as well as moving the sofas in his living room to **** about with the mitts. Or going in the back garden to burn off some energy (during family and friends get-together) like a 7-year old kid. Surprised they didn't have a bouncy castle set up for him, too.
