How was it Calzaghe's fight to make in 2002 while Hopkins was going on about Calzaghe being a step backwards and not a big enough payday? Both sides have to agree to a deal and Hopkins made quite clear that a fight against Calzaghe in 2002 was not in the best interests of his wallet. Doesn't mean he ducked, just mean he didn't think the fight was worth it at the time.

Yes and no, Hopkins wanted 3 million take home pay. They offered him 3 million total, but King wanted half of it. He waited to finish his contract with King who was skimming his wage before signing for any super fights.

Hopkins could have just bit the bullit and fought anyway but he would have fought Calzaghe if his 3million was his take home pay. I wonder if that's why Jones-Hopkins 2 really didn't happen too

He accepted the fight because he thought it was legit. He backed out once he realised they were trying to trick him into taking less than advertised

They should of been upfront from the start. He most likely would of got around 1.5m. He was getting way more than that fighting his mandos on HBO
    Not really
King as a promoter is entitled to a share of the tv money, he doesnt work for free after all. How much he was entitled to was the problem.
King was also entitled to a slice of that. Hopkins is far from a saint himself. The terms for Hopkins-Jones II come to mind

  9. Yes. It is an iron-clad irrefutable scientific fact.

If the shoe was on the other foot then Calzaghe would be shot... so yes Hopkins did duck Calzaghe.

Can't really see him making much more than 1.5 million per fight unless it was a big name.
