No, not at that level of skill and intensity. The closest we've come in the last few years I suppose was Lamon Brewster vs Sergei Lyakhovich, but I can't think of a single pair of fighters today who could emulate what Bowe and Evander did in that one clip alone.

U mean lotsa head buts and rabbit punches. :nut :yep
Looks like there is a lot more brawlig then boxing like Lewis Vitali.
We do lack inside fighters in HW division though.

Was this the fight with the fan-parachute man?

Absolutely not. I don't know a single fighter today who is capable of this type of infighting, as opposed to just grabbing and waiting for the official to come in and break things up.

I'm not usually a very nostalgic person, but back in the days, referees allowed infighters a chance to do some work on the inside. And those who tried to hold and grab were often warned or penalized. I seem to also remember refs coming in and moving a fighters arms down if they just instinctively reached up to grab.

I think if this attitude was adopted more, the heavyweight division wouldn't rely as much on height as it does today. Shorter fighters wouldn't have to avoid jabs all night. They could take a couple to work their way inside and then be allowed to do some work without being leaned on and drained.

Modern heavies are better. Back in the 90's boxing was still primitive and they didn't have modern nutrition and training techniques. Primitive dinosaurs like Holyfield and Bowe would be journeymen today. Holyfield too small to be a heavyweight, he'd just be a cruiserweight in the modern game. Bowe's nutrition wasn't even modern for the 90's.

Bowe was developed by Eddie Futch as to one of reasons he had a polished inside game. A lost art nowadays among the Heavyweights. Actually before this moment in the gif, Cortez was about to break up the clinch but gave them a second of opportunity to make something out of it which produced this. Amazing Stuff.
