As for individual punches, yes. The thing against him is that he didn't put the punches together in combinations, but more worked as a classical power puncher, going for broke with every punch (which is pretty logical if you're blessed with that power, though). As for Holyfield, I think he just might be the most well-rounded and fundamentally sound HW I've ever seen.
yeah I can agree with Jackson not having great fluidity in throwing combinations (although when he wanted to he could throw good ones), but his punches were so accurate like heat seeking missiles, if your feet or head didn't move, you're getting tagged hard. Jackson was also good at slipping a punch or two, coming back with his own, despite him generally being mentioned in the 'defensive flaws' category often. Just imagine a prime Julian Jackson on HBO in high definition in the jmw division today. crazy possibilities with Kirkland and Canelo among others.
speaking of holyfield...can somebody explain me and describe the way he counters by doing a shoulder-roll like movements??
watch the Tyson fight, he works it a lot. he kind of turns to the right to make Tyson's right fall just a little short and immediately comes back with a right of his own. he didn't really tuck his chin behind his shoulder though
Ya don't have to be perfect to be technical. Frazier may not be "perfectly" technical but I liked what I saw from him facing Ellis, Quarry, and Foster. Looked pretty damn good to me though he did loop. Spinks had a great jab but that's it. Was desperate to add another name to my list lol Monzon was sound in his technique though a bit clumsy in footwork Replace Spinks with Kid Chocolate then? (Cuban boxer not Quillin lol) Trwas about to bring up cossing of the feet.
He is? He had a technically sound defense, no doubt. Just a very offensive mindset - willing to take a punch to give one, with good reason.
He needs to step up more but without a doubt, technical fundamental clinic. His fight vs a decent technician in RICO Ramos. Great show of quality Mayweather jr surely deserves a mention also a fan of Henry Armstrong from fights seen
I wouldnt say Winky Wright is textbook. I think he lacks a lot of core skills such as head movement, combinations and lateral movement
