Britain should be proud of Ricky Burns. A great role model for the younger generation and a true world champion.

I've always been a bit critical of Burns resume, justifiably IMO, at Lightweight he's put together a string of solid-good wins.

I've always been a fan, it's impossible to dislike Ricky, is there a more humble man in Boxing?

It just goes to show what hard work and dedication can do, being matched tough early in his career has made him the fighter he is today, he can become a massive draw in Scotland to the point where Stadium fights could become a possibility, IF Frank steps him up and looks for unification bouts.

Like BB said in a previous thread, this is the time to capitalize and become THE champion at Lightweight, it's certainly possible.

He's like Andy Murray, if he wins it's 'Britain's Andy Murray' when he loses it's 'Scotland's Andy Murray'

He's a totally boring personality and character.

I don't think he will gain the support from the whole of Great Britain.

I thought that might be true so I looked at a load of news reports of his wins and losses and found no evidence of bias in describing him as either British or Scottish based on his results. It's just one of those bull**** myths that people love to roll out....and yes, I had too much time for my own good haha

I think in this case the thread starter clearly knows that people always bring this up if a successful Scot us referred to as a Brit.

Humble and does his talking in the ring, could do with being on the undercard of a big fight rather than being a headliner to 8,000.

It was only three years ago he was scraping by in Commonwealth title bouts.
The thing is though,he's the exact same guy he was when he lost to Johanneson. There were pros in the gym with losing records who swanned about as if they were Mariah Carey, yet Ricky would ask when you'd be done on a bag.
    An absolute gem.

The super-featherweight Burns was a fraud.

The lightweight Burns seems to be genuine!

Please, please, please his promoters/managers/trainers quit stalling and protecting him! Give him the fights he wants! He ain't getting younger and he can really create vibrations on the scene if they let him go!
