Strong amateur resumé and he's beat everyone they've put in front of him in the pro's, most of the time by brutal KO. He's not all hype, that's for sure. My main concern is his height. He's small for a MW and one day or another a tall guy with a good jab will outbox him. Winky Wright would've UD him without sweating, but styles make fights.

i think hes getting rididculously overhyped but also think he's pretty good just not as good as people think. a top 3 in the division type guy imo.

Him and macklin on paper would be the fifty fifty fight in the division (top end worth ppv i mean). Is there a strap free or is the quillan fight already sorted for the wbo?

I would have agreed a few months ago but... if a limited guy like Chavez jr can get to that chin then i dont think its out of the realms of possibilty that a more intelligent fighter who applies steady but suffocating pressure could reach that chin. Martinez would no doubt take the early rounds but later in the fight... thats when the real struggle would begin.

Macklin was offered the fight before Proksa, he quite sanely passed. He'd get brutalized.

    The belt situation is:

    Martinez WBC
    Geale IBF, WBA Super.
GG WBA "regular". Geale will likely drop the super belt soon
HNN weaseled into WBO belt. Supposed to defend vs Quillin

Sure didn't maken an impression of a hypejob last time around. It was almost heartbreaking how he gave poor Grzegorz brain damage.

Given that his competition has been rather soft so far, I think it's a long shot to have him ahead of proven Geale and Martinez though. Let's see how he fares against A-level opposition which he has yet to face.

GGG has a belt. WBA, I believe.

He's not just looking for a belt. He wants to prove he's the best.

I believe Golovkin is a product of some agent's hype but I cannot tell you exactly who is it b'cause question the main I do not know. But I can feel he is more hype than reality. His best win thus far is against Proksa who made a name out for himself after a very unlucky bad cut on Sebastien Sylvester's forehead for the European MW title. What did GGG prove in that fight - that he is heavy handed, well-schooled, coordinated and experienced as a former great amateur - what is he sayin now? That he'll fight anyone from 154 to 168... This is not self-confidence! This is hype to get very good paydays in his next fights...Seriously nobody expects him to fight Martinez, Canelo or Ward toe to toe in his next move.

Come on, you're accusing someone of being a hypejob and contrasting with Canelo:lol:

Nobody expects him to fight Canelo toe to toe or otherwise, since he's not a light welter, dude.

I thought Quillin was the only one we know for sure turned down that date. I recall Rubio and Macklin being mentioned as under consideration but never heard anything about either of them passing. I agree though that Macklin would be facing an awful style match-up in that fight.

He claims he wasn't contacted, but he didn't sound interested due to short notice. That's fair I suppose. It was on the scene, just sub that if mangled:

    Real Champ: Martinez (2010-present)

Loeffler wants a fight with Geale by December 31st or lose the belt.

Does he have to be one or the other?

I see him as an exciting prospect

Rubio would be a good test for GGG to see if he has what it takes. Rubio is one of those really dangerous B+ or A- fighters, always gives a good fight and has popped a few hype bubbles.

He's an exciting fighter working his way up the ranks. I'm looking forward to seeing how his career develops.

Why isn't that good enough for people any more?
