Cotto is in a different position now. He accepted the risk to drain himself while making many millions of dollars and increasing his exposure to the casual fan.

Coming off multi-million dollar paydays against Margo and Floyd means that he doesn't have to do that now. And if Pac and Arum feel that Pac is too small for 154 then they shouldn't go after 154 fighters offering catchweights.

Cotto probably didn't feel drained at the time, however he is clearly more effective at 154.

That being said, Manny was at the peak of his powers in 2009 and would've beat Cotto regardless so *****'s and Pac Haters need to get over it.

Regarding Cotto-Martinez, I actually believe Cotto would be willing to take on Sergio, as he, much like the likes of Froch and Mares are the sports true warriors who will fight anyone if it makes sense. The fight that makes the most sense for Cotto though is a showdown with Canelo in May if he gets by Trout.

it's the truth. They wanted 143, Cotto said no to Arum. Arum went behind Cotto's back to his conditioning coach and he said maybe he could do 145. so arum revised the contract and bullied Cotto into signing :-(

Nah, I remember him being bullied in to putting his belt on the line at the catchweight. He was never forced in to the catchweight though.

When was the last time Martinez fought someone with an elite jab, and educated D:think

Martinez needs to avoid May, Cotto, Ward, and Maybe old BHOP all stylistic nightmares for him

Then Cotto said fine but I will not put my belt on the line. Causing Freddy the Roach to throw a huge tantrum. Arum had to convince Cotto to do it at 145 and put the belt on the line.

I'm sure Arum told Cotto something on the lines of, "...you do this for me I'll get you a shot at Yuri Forman's WBA belt at 154. It's there for the taking"

Cotto was a supreme yes man back then. He was actually the original "Talk to my promoter" before Pac took the reigns on that one

This along with comments of Team Pac's trainner Roach being quoted saying that:

The evidence continues to rain on Team Pac.

It's pretty obvious cotto was at his optimum level when fighting PAC I still don't think it's an excuse and I doubt cott cares about making one. I find it hilarious that some pact adds love to bring up him stating he felt good at 145 I mean what do you expect him to say? Also this is cotto we are talking about he's not going to dwell on excuses. If you truly feel cotto was at his peak physically and mentally during his fight vs PAC then you are delusional. I take nothing away from the win boxing isn't just a fight in the ring it's a war outside of it as we'll, if you can't win the negotiations then you already entering the fight with a handicap.

When was the last time Martinez fought someone when he was the bigger guy in all respects?

At 154 or above, Martinez KO's Cotto and beats Floyd.

Ward is the only guy in your list that would be able to beat Martinez at 160.

Martinez vs BHOP at 160 these days, would be a replay of Pac vs Oscar.
