Collins had one of the best iron chins of the 90's. Took on a prime Mike McCallum when he was a 16 fight novice, hung in there and gave Mike a good fight. Fought a prime Reggie Johnson to a close SD, that many felt Collins won. Took Eubank's '0' and was ducked by a prime Roy Jones

His fights with Eubank made me a fan of boxing. Been following the sport since.

Collins was far from the greatest technician, but he was a warrior who chased the hard fights.
So I have to give credit, where credit is due.

Some also felt Collins beat Kalambay.

    Means nothing.

How do you think a fight between Collins and prime Nigel Benn would have played out at SMW?

This guy makes good tribute videos.

I wasn't really following boxing back in 97, but had he not pulled out he would have given green Calzaghe the toughest time of his career.

It would have been a give and take battle whoever would have taken it.
I really couldnt call it, as I can see so many scenarios as to how I think it would have gone.

He pulled out twice. He pulled out the first time on a big bill called The Full Monty, where Naseem Hamed was the main event.
Collins then retired but decided he was going to come back and fight Calzaghe.
A bill was made to showcase both of them, and they would meet in their next fight. A tune up each. Calzaghe against Thornberry and Collins against (I forget who now), but Collins decided to stay retired.
Shame it would have been a good match up
