    He was lucky he fought in a weak era.

    Don't agree with any of that.

    But at bantam he had some moments that made him look a bit vulnerable.

    Havent seen that fight in years but one thing i remember is that Duran went to the wrong corner at the end of every round.:lol:

    Nowadays it's actually a naturally progression.

    Lots of fast guys throwing punches in bunches for 20+ fights then becoming 'athletic' runner types when they step it up.

    Just compared to the BUchanan verison i mean.I think the raw effectiveness in Duran at that point still lay in his more aggressive relatively unorthodox tendencies.

    His attempts to matador Thompson(likely under orders of his corner) looked strained to me.A style as yet unnatural

    Wouldn't say Pacquiao was a defensive fighter at any point in his career, per se...But he did incorporate more side to side movement and countered more when he moved up to welterweight. And his defense did improve as a result.
