After the Calzaghe loss he went on to win the WBA SMW title when Joe moved up to LH.
He defended it with a 3rd round knock out of Danilo Haussler whose defetas have been close points losses- two 12 round UDs, and one 8 round SD.
His second defence was another knock out in round 4.

At this point in his career he was thought of as one of the best SMW in the world. This is a fact and what got him into the super six tournament. Manny thought this would be the big break in the US he was over due. When he got to Ward he was a more experienced, confidant Kessler. There is a lot of experience to gain by being in the ring with Calzaghe , who people claim is the best SMW in history. When they fought Ward who had only 20 Pro fights, shut him out worse than Calzaghe did, Kessler could barley let his hands go. Kessler won at least 4 rounds against Joe. Againt Ward he won zero.

Somehow people actually believe Calzaghe fans when they say Kessler wasn't in his prime. He's in his prime now ffs. They have people believe Kessler saw two fighters in the ring as a result of double vision. That is a ridiculous excuse on par with Haye's toe. All fighters must pass a clean heath bill before they can step in the ring and if he could not actually see who he is fighting i guarantee he would be retired.

It will be even more edvident when Kessler fights MaGee next that he was in his prime when he fought Ward.

Calzaghe dealt with a Kessler who never knew how to lose, while Ward feasted on a Kessler who was inactive for a while.

There is not much difference between the two Kessler's.

You are at one extreme who feels Ward faced a superior Kessler. Then you have another extreme that feels Calzaghe faced a superior Kessler.

The correct opinion, and the opinion I abide by. Both Kessler's were pretty much the same.

When Kessler dropped out of the super six his next fight was Allen Green, a winnable fight and probably decent money as it was part of the super 6. Why would he drop out if he wasn't really injured?

Two fights a year till he met Ward is far from inactivity. You haven't a clue boy.

Why/how could he fight Green if he was injured? He wanted out of the S6 for other reasons.

I'd define the Kessler who fought Calzaghe as prime.

I'd define the Kessler who fought Ward as past peak, but still prime. Ward would have won even if Kessler was at his best, or at least thats what I believe.

People who have fallowed Kesslers career knows he was a tad sharper when he faced Joe. So you are wrong, and thats all there is to it.

Why would he chose to fight a much tougher fighter in Froch AND then quit after getting a close decision and a belt in Denmark?

I'm a big Ward fan and a big critic of Calzaghe's bull**** reign for most of his career but your post is absolute codswallop.

2007 Kessler was way better than the Kessler that fought Ward.
