I don't believe the double vision excuse for a minute. Especially not from a guy who is driving himself to a press conference to announce it. That said, Joe fans never acknowledge that Kessler claimed to have a hand injury in the lead up to that fight. So, overall, Joe faced a younger, likely slightly injured Kessler and beat him, albeit without inflicting any noticeable damage. Ward beat a slightly older, not injured Kessler and inflicted serious damage, albeit some with his head. Overall, they are about equal.
In both fights kessler had injurys, leading up to the Calzaghe fight kessler had severe hand problems and right after that fight he got it operated and put in some titanium to hold it together...And in the ward fight Kessler had an eyeinjury...i dont say this as an excuse for the loses, because he lost both fight, with no doubt. Kessler couldn“t have any sparring for 3 weeks during the Calzaghe fight. And have the eyeinjury in the ward fight, that lead him to withdraw from the S6. But i think even if Kessler had been 100% Vs Calzaghe,he would have lost... because he had an amateur trainer, that couldn“t give him any advice...And he had the same trainer during the ward fight....And both Calzaghe and ward fought a perfect fight,so the best thing Kessler did,was to get rid of his old trainer and get Jimmi Montoya to train him,He havent lost since that.
Agree. Even if Kessler had lost a step and was cheated on, you also have to consider that Ward was very dominant during the whole fight.
Kessler really has paid for his no holds barred style. He is fading too early but the difference is still fairly minimal between young kessler and mdidle career kessler. But that said, Ward DOMINATED Kess in a way he had never been dominated. Usually, Mikkel dominates his opponents at least for some or most of the fight, as he did with Zaghes until Mikk gassed and faded. But Ward simply was another level in skill, Ward certianly did MUCH better than Zgahes against him. Consider, with extra gass in Mikkey's tank, Calzaghe would have lost to Kessler, but no amount of extra gas or training or preparation would have helped Kess beat Ward that night.
Come on man!atsch Really??? I'm far from the biggest Calzaghe fan, but he did fight the better, more fresher version of Kessler...Not taking anything away from Ward, because he took care of business against Kessler but to say that he fought a fresher version is pushing it.
Explain how it his pushing it. One loss and a fighter is shot to ****? Bull****. Most fighters come back stronger after a loss.
Who said he was shot to ****? You're the one putting words in peoples mouths. Just take a glancing look at how Kessler fights against Calzaghe and then against Perdomo and Ward, and you'll see its night and day. And thats just cold facts. Kessler was a well oiled machine against Calzaghe, whereas he was a rusty, inactive coming off of an injury machine against Ward. Still, I'd favor Ward against prime Kessler, but to say that was the best version of Kessler is just outright laughable.
Please do me the favor and point out to when have I ever stated that Kessler was shot??? What are you talking about?? I specifically said that IMO, I think Calz fought a more fresher version of Kessler...And no, when a fighter comes off a loss doesnt mean their shot...Didnt say that at all nor was I trying to imply that he was, but that still doesnt erase the fact that Calz fought a fresher version.
I made this post because i read a lot of posts saying Kessler was shot and inactive. He wasn't inactive, thats absolute bull****. He fought 3 months before he faced Ward with a knock out win and had 2 fights before that. Both wins by KO. Thats 2 fights a year bewteen Calzaghe and Ward.
Ok . you didn't. But i dont believe he wasn't any less fresh by the time he got to Ward. Its only common sense that he would of developed.
Go and watch that fight and tell me he's where he was with Calzaghe. His timing was completely off against Perdomo. Mogens Palle and Kessler was in a contractual dispute after the Calzaghe fight and thus, Mikkels career suffered. On top of that he had a ****ed up hand which he had to heal. By the time he really came back fighting strong opposition, his timing was off.
He was offered to fight Miranda in that time, and Mogens Palle was the only one who kept him from that.
