If Bute really want to fight the top guys he would've joined the super 6. If not initially, at least when Kessler, Taylor, or Dirrell dropped out. He had his chances. He wanted no part of it.

Only fighter that complained about headbutts was Kessler. How is one fight headbutts at will?

Kirk. Ward did ducked Bute plain and simple. You'll find videos on youtube of Ward saying prior to the final. The winner of the Super Six must fight Bute, after winning immediately saying something similar with... Bute needs to fight couple A lvl guys to prove himself worthy of fighting me.
Kessler said he'll come to Montreal to fight Bute then changing his strategy of the suppose to be tune-up trying to go up in the WBO rankings, and going after lesser Camp in Steglitz, fight later postponed because of Injuries.
Stieglitz was offered the biggest purse Interbox(Bute's promoter) had offered so far, Twice and was refused, twice.
Pror to the Super Six announcement. Carl Froch and Lucian Bute have a verbal agreement for a fight in Nottingham. Froch's promoter back then Hennessy makes statements in this regard you can find on internet still. Froch receives invitation into Super six and the deal falls trough.
Pavlik v Martinez - Bute v Miranda if winners were Bute and Pavlik were suppose to met in a mega-fight. Pavlik losses and the deal falls trough.
Allan Greed ducks Bute if I remember right before the super six has started or at the beginning of it when he was the so called reserve.
Sartison refused a fight with Bute. etc.

I don't think Ward wanted to go to Canada, but I'm having a hard time believing he was scared of Bute, when he chose to fight Dawson.

Have you seen Kessler's face after the fight?
Also Bute had also only one fight controversy... :think same as one fight headbutts for Ward.

Bute was willing to fight him in his hometown of Oakland.

Well, what can I say? He ducked Bute to fight a better fighter. He's a coward.
