Another manhandling slaughter by Johnson against a smaller fighter or does the southpaw have some success here?

I don“t think Moore has even a slight chance. He just was not good enough. Johnson would knock him out early.

I think Jack toys with Michael, and stops him in the 11th round.

If its scheduled as one of these fights that has 45 rounds or some ungodly number, then Johnson eventually wears him down for the stoppage.. If its scheduled for 12 rounds or anything less, Moorer takes a decision.

Johnson was one of the greatest fighters to ever live. A special talent just as much so as Dempsey, Louis or Ali. Moore is easily beaten by prime Johnson more than likely by late round stoppage.

Johnson is far from being a favorite fight of mine, but he stops Moorer quite easily after dominating him for 8 rounds.

Moorer should never have fought any higher than cruiserweight.

    Bad style match-up.

Johnson destroys Moorer inside. Mid-rounds stoppage.

    Good lord.

First of all Moorer was bigger than Johnson. He was taller with a longer reach. Sure, when very young he was on the Kronk starvation diet to make light heavy. Much like Johnson was a 180 pounder earlier in his career. Moorer was a legit sized elite heavy, something Johnson didn't face too often.

Secondly, the only guys who finished Moorer were top 5 all time heavyweight power punchers. Johnson was not even close to this level in power. Far more likely is that the very fast, very fundamentally sound, and great combo punching Moorer would stop Johnson. Moorer had serious pop that he carried into the heavyweight division.

Lastly, Moorer was a southpaw who possessed a great, powerful jab, two things Johnson never faced at heavyweight. The composite of skills and abilities, along with the very slim chance of his weaknesses getting exploited, makes this an easy pick for me.

Moorer UD 15 with Johnson hitting the canvas more than once.

    interesting

I wouldn't rank Holy in the top 5 of AT power punchers though :yep neither Tua for that matter

I pick Johnson based on his ability to fight inside, clinch, smother

Michael Moorer was a fine boxer, his flaw was pressure

if you had good pop and you jumped on him, you had a good chance of knocking him out, because he got wobbly pretty easy by punches half blocked

    Cooper
Holy when he changed his approach
    Foreman

    and Tua of course

You talk to people who fought Cooper and to a man they will say he was one of the hardest punchers they ever faced.

Foreman and Ruiz are top 5 in terms of brute power. That is not a reach.

Johnson was able to bully and smother smaller guys, and non-elite fighters. I think he would find it more difficult with full sized elite skilled heavies who threw fast hard combo's with bad intentions... especially coming from the other side.

you meant Holy or Tua ?

power is a subjective thing to an extent

I usually rank a puncher with power in both fists over a one-handed puncher

Moorer wasn't going to knock out Jack Johnson and his chin would have let him down after being frustrated by all the grabbing and smothering that Lil Artha would have done to him. A very physically draining affair for Moorer that he wouldn't survive.

Name me the elite skilled real-sized heavyweight that Lil' Arthur faced who threw a great jab, had top-end power and threw in combo's.

The first time he goes in for a bicep pinch on Moorer he going to get hit by a modern three punch combo for his troubles. The more I think about this, the more I am sure Johnson would be completely out of his depth.

Yep, Tua. Unless there is still part of Ruiz on Tua's left hand.
