Is this the weakest the welterweight division has ever been ???

    It is kind of blank isnt it .

    I would love to see a Vernon Forrest type coming through.

    ya it is.... i mean, the only guys there making noise seem to be better suited for 140....like devon and maidana....after that, we have ortiz and some other cheating ass fools, but that's about it....

    Well there's Mayweather (who may well not fight at 147 again), Pacquiao then everyone else.

    The lesser guys aren't too bad though- Bradley, Guerrero, Brook, Alexander, Bailey, Malignaggi, Carson Jones, Mike Jones, Berto, Ortiz, Khan is likely moving up, possibly Matthysee too, if Hatton isn't shot to **** he will be a decent addition. Vargas and Dulmore are solid prospects too.

    Compared to even what it was 4/5 years ago it is really poor.

    Mayweather
    Cotto
    Margarito
    Mosley
    Williams

    2012

    Bradley
    Uhh... Brook? Ortiz? Paulie? Bailey?

    It was far worse 1-2 years ago. At least now some of the guys from 140 are moving up and looking okay. In 2011, some people still had Mosley as a top 3 welterweight :patsch

    Though I did occasionally hear the argument from Duck Dodgers and some of the other awful posters from the past that it simply must be the best division in boxing because Manny and Floyd fight there :nut

    It's ok. It just ain't got any big fights, sans the one that ain't ever gonna happen. Ortiz and Tim were supposed to be hot new additions to WW, but they both got their asses kicked. Ortiz had beaten Berto in a good fight, but Berto never been all that.

    Who cares about the glory of the divisions' name.

    140 is good and 154 is perhaps the best.

    In the end, you've still got Mayeather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Bradley plus Zaveck, Brooks, Paulie, Ortiz... it could def be a whole lot worse. Those are 4 top 10 P4P guys in the welterweight division, so I disagree that it's weak right now.

    I disagree about this. I think it's the most fragmented but I'd be hard-pressed to call any division in which someone like Vanes Martirosyan appears on most people's top 10 lists the best in boxing.
