question to those that give credit if floyd beats sergio at 150. did you also give credit for Pac beating Marg at 150? Marg outweighed him by around 15+.
Like that ****ing means anything. Oscar offered to come down one division for Manny (whilst Manny had to come up two), but that hasn't and doesn't stop people from diminishing the win and accusing Pac of forcing him to come down - when he didn't do anything of the sort. Fact is, if this does take place at 150, it is a case of Sergio being made to come down. He sure as hell ain't gonna' be taken seriously for asking it to be at 160. And he sure as hell isn't getting any notice for saying he'll come down at 154. And so he's being left with little choice to say 150.
**** the catch weights he should fight him at 154, floyd has fought at 154 before so it fair on both counts.
That fight is probably currently the biggest viable threat to Mayweather's 0. I'd give him credit for taking it, as it would be the most dangerous fight he's taken in quite a while. Probably since De La Hoya or Corrales (at the time). If he won you'd have to give him credit seeing as Sergio is already a small middleweight and he's the one that offered to come down. If he didn't know he could make 150, he wouldn't have offered it.
DLH was a small super welter, did most of his work at 147 or below. He only had to drop 3 pounds, maybe easier than dropping 10? If he didn't think he could make 147, he wouldn't have offered, right?
tons of credit. who exactly has whooped sergios ass in recent times? none. it would be a feat at any weight. sergio asks for it, he should come and get it.
The fight should be at 154 lbs, but credit for a fighter coming down is really down to how they look in the fight and at the weigh in.
Floyd won't fight Sergio at 150 after all his preaching about fighting Cotto at his comfy weight. Also, comparing it (if it did happen) with Pac beating Margarito- get a GRIP you *******S. Margarito hadn't won a fight against a decent opponent in over two years and was unranked. Martinez is one of the best fighters in the world today. MASSIVE DIFFERENCE. You just worry about your man robbing Marquez on the cards again
Martinez- one of the best in the world right now Margarito- Unranked, not won a meaningful fight in two years when he fought Pac. Big difference
We don't know he's worth anything at 150. Remember DLH won 4 rounds from p4p Floyd at 154, next thing he drops to 147 and he's utter ****, despite taking a tuneup at 150, and fighting a midget coming up 2-3 classes. Ward is one of the best in the world, maybe Cotto should challenge him at 150 with 160 rehydration clause. Can you imagine how unshot that'd make Cotto? ATG unshot I think.
The thing you have to remember though is it isn't just 3 pounds. If he walks around 165 lbs then he has to cut 15 lbs to make 150 lbs and additional 3 pounds on top of that 15 pounds. The main problem with Oscar De La Hoya fighting at 147 lbs again is that he only rehydrated 2 lbs. Which probably means instead of cutting water weight like most fighters do, he cut muscle and fat of his frame.
Yep, Martinez will be 38 in February. If this fight does happen @ 150, Martinez being drained etc, No one is to blame but Martinez, agreed to it.
