What if '71 Frazier fought '52 Marciano in a 15 rounder?

The one thing I disagree most with when comparing the two. Maybe in that specific instance, but I tend to think Marciano carries his power better in the late rounds because of his edge in stamina.

If Marciano doesn't necessarily have better stamina than Frazier is certainly not physically stronger. I think Marciano clearly does have better stamina, and believing otherwise is would be like believing Frazier had better one punch knockout power.

Comparing Frazier-Ali I and Charles-Marciano I is to compare Frazier's best performance against one of Marciano's more mediocre ones. It's not that Marciano looked that bad. It's just he starts as slow as he ever did against Charles. He basically loses the first 5-6 rounds by sweeping the rest of the fight. I think it's fair to say Marciano is actually a slower starter than Frazier. How differently would this affect him in a fight where the man is coming at him is an altogether different factor, I guess.

So Ali was near prime despite having a 3 year layoff?

Charles was 32 when he fought Marciano the first time, NOT 33.

Ali "much better" than charles? Sensationalizing a bit there? I do pick Ali over Charles, but not as wide as you think.

Ali definitely better, but Ali stupidly threw the kitchen sink at Frazier. He was practically in quicksand for the last third of the fight. Charles fought just about the best he could have fought at that juncture. While I think Frazier always would have won the FOTC, I just don't know if we can say Ali fought as well or as smart as he could have.

Based on what? Charles ko'd Moore with one shot, when Moore had him hurt. Otherwise Ezzzad would have done like he usually did after bout where he killed that guy---boxed his way to decision. Guy could punch, hit hard, Ali was feather fisted for a heavyweight champ.

Charles surprised everyone in stadium, including Marciano, by slugging more, which totally made it different fight than anyone, Marciano and his people, expected. Rocky had prepared for totally different type fight, and as fight went on, he adapted.

Ali Frazier was bigger fight money wise and attention of public wise, Charles Marciano was the better fight

I'd almost bet on Marciano putting Joe on the floor a couple of times within the first 3 rounds but I don't think he'd finish him early. Not a prime Joe. I see Joe outworking the Rock, staying tough in the middle rounds and outworking the Rock to a 15 round win. Either man can but I lean towards Frazier.

Main reason. Joe doesn't have to chase Marciano.

His rhythm, pace and head movement after the early storm takes control of the fight. I think he throws the quicker shots than Marciano, and him being a converted southpaw gives him immediate natural right handed power which people underate and often overlook. Enough of his opponents on the receiving end of Joe's right hand whether to the head or body have testified to its power.

    Not at all. It true.

Ali was on another level as a heavyweight. Charles great fighter but good heavy some of his best work was at middle and light heavy.

Ali had good power as a heavyweight up until 1976.... By the time Ali hit age 34 and was fighting "Young, Coopman and Norton" for the third time, Ali's power and skills were declining... Ali didn't have much power left by the time he was fighting Leon Stinks, but Ali's power of the late 60's and early 70's was good... Just checkout Ali's KO's of "Williams, Folley, Bonavena, Bob Foster, Foreman and Wepner....

Ali's power improved as he got older, he said so himself, so did everyone watching him. You talking about another guy named Ali??

Yes, with the natural weight increase as his body matured. Add the fact that he sat down on his punches more because he didn't have the legs to dance as much in the 70's. Ali had to stand and fight a lot more in his comeback after exile.

The world found out that the man was one of the toughest to take a punch and he showed good power throwing shots back as well.

To think Charles hit harder than Ali is bordering on the delusional. Who did Charles KO with chins like Bonavena and Foreman?

Ok. Then you tell me in which fight post Manilla where Ali threw as hard shots as he did in FOTC.

Horse manure........... Ali's power did get better as he approachd 24 to 25 yrs of age and it stayed with him until he was about 33..... Ali's right hand wasn't all that potent by the time he was bouncing it off Norton's jaw in 1976..... Ali's right was dead by the time he boxed Stinks to death in Louisiana...
