Sergio Martinez Wants Floyd But Doesn't Want Ward

Why should Ward cut off an arm to make 160? That doesn't make any sense. Espcially in the light of Ward's last fight...

 

I don't think it's unreasonable. Mayweather is a lot more money, but probably is a pipe dream. Honestly, if Mayweather fought Martinez it would be the toughest fight on paper of his career, but i dont have a problem with Maryinez chasing big money fights at this point in his career. It probably does mean some subpar competition while he waits. Ward is just too big and skilled for a junior middleweight masquerading as a middleweight, though I would like to see it and I don't think it hurts Martinez's legacy if he loses wide to him (which he probably would). Realistically, I suspect he'll end up fighting a semi-scrub (unless HBO wants to pay for Golovkin; I'm guessing Billi Godoy, which would make big bucks in Argentina), then a Chavez rematch, then someone like Quillin (which would be a unification fight), then a big name like Alvarez, then whoever gets him the most cash (I'm guessing the Cotto-Alvarez winner), then he retires.

 

oh ****, i just noticed that. but reality of the situation is the $$$. dawson needs ward more so he has to move down. now that ward has no opponent left at 168, he feels moving up to 175 would give him the big fights.

 

Ward weighs around 176-177 on fightnight.

Also Sergio is 37/38.

Hes already gone up the divisions and can still make 154.

Hes doesnt have to prove himself going up to 168 after starting out at 147.

 

That's my point, people here keep asking why Martinez is calling out Mayweather or Pacquiao @ 150sh but not Andre Ward?

If Martinez can make 150, but i would prefer 154, well then that's good for Martinez if he can get a fight with Mayweather.

On the other hand, Ward maybe moving up to 175. So i don't think that Martinez vs Ward will ever happen at all.
