A lot of people are criticizing Martinez for wanting to fight Floyd, but Floyd is considered the PFP #1 boxer in the sport. If people believe that he has no chance against Martinez at 154, a division that Floyd holds a belt in and is rated #1 by the RING, then he is clearly not the PFP #1 fighter in the sport. How is it possible to be the PFP #1 fighter in the sport if you can't beat the guys in your own weightclass that you hold a title in? Doesn't make much sense. Mayweather is by far the biggest draw in the sport, and Martinez would make the most amount of money fighting him. At 37, he's in the twiglight of his career, and this may very well be his last opportunity to land a fight with Mayweather. Also, Martinez is willing to go down in weight to Mayweather's division to fight him. If people don't think Mayweather has any chance of winning this fight, then I can understand why this is not a viable fight. At the same time, if this is the case, Mayweather's position in the sport needs to be reconsidered because if he cannot beat a guy that can make the weight in his own weightclass, how can he be PFP #1 in the sport? I suppose the same could be said about Martinez, but that's not the argument (in regards to perhaps GGG who is admittedly, a monster). However, Martinez doesn't necessarily have to be rated #1, but he should be rated above Floyd by default. If instead, people think Floyd has a shot against Martinez, then the fight should be made because it's two of the best fighters in the sport, capable of making the weight, going at it, and proving who the best in the sport is. So for those that say Sergio is a ***** etc, etc, you have it would be very hypocritical to say, Mayweather would beat Martinez, while calling him a ***** for wanting to fight Mayweather in a division that Mayweather holds a title in.
floyd. hes just too smart. at 160, i favor sergio. he will overpower him like castillo did in their 1st fight
of course. more of a fair fight. serg outweighs him by at least 20 lbs when not fighting. u could see the size difference between them. its quite big. martinez wants to fight at 54. floyd can make 54 easily. but, it seems like floyd is a little worried about the size difference. he said if serg can make 150, we have a fight
That makes sense. I only asked because it seems like many of the people that say Floyd would win, if not easily, are the same people that call Sergio a ***** for wanting to fight Floyd. How can you be a ***** if you're willing to test yourself against the best fighter in the sport, and then lose? That doesn't make sense.
