it's not an amazing fact at all when you carry that kind of power, you don't score flash knockdowns, when you send a guy down, he is hurt, and Tua was a good finisher so....
ok i'll help break down why i think it would be interesting, tua sparked ruiz, ruiz won a title, became a very good spoiler, and had some semi decent skills, i would love to see if he could stop the initial tua onslaught, or if he could grind a d/c against tua, ofc this would be when he was wba title holder.
Haye and Adamek haven't had anywhere near the number of heavyweight fights that some of the others have on the list, so I'm not sure how relevant they are here. I suppose you could include their cruiserweight fights, but then Adamek went the distance with Cunningham whom he knocked down three times, and possibly a few more names besides. Lennox, Tyson and Wlad are all top flight punchers. I'm not surprised they have such a high percentage of KD to stoppage wins. Vitali I'm a little hesitant on including since so many of his stoppages came from RTD and ref stoppages, rather than clean KOs. Regardless, it definitely says something for your punching power if you're able to finish off so many opponents after dropping them (though finishing ability also comes into play here.) It's doubly impressive IMO if the knockouts come shortly after the first knockdown. With Tua, who was not an especially skilled boxer or finisher, I'm just continually impressed with the number of technically superior fighters he managed to finish off, sometimes whilst trailing on the cards and going into the later rounds. It was like once you felt his punch your brains just got scrambled and you were physically unable to defend yourself anymore, even if you managed to beat the count.
I wouldn't call him a particularly good finisher, at least not on the level of a Tyson or Dempsey (not that anyone would rate him as such of course). The Ruiz fight was impressive, but a lot of the time he'd plod into range, unleash a few left hooks and down they'd go. So many of his knockouts just seemed matter of fact. The Moorer fight for example. Scary.
I think tua was a good finisher, if he hurt a guy he would go straight after him no doubt and if he hurt you the canvas was next.
Well, he wasn't a terrible finisher, and he'd let his hands go if he thought an opponent was hurt (i.e. if he hit them!) but I would say he lacked the footspeed, the handspeed in combinations, or the variety of angles and punch variety of the truly top class finishers of the sport, barring the Ruiz fight of course.
Doesn't matter the 2% bollocks, How many of those were in his class? This is like saying if Denis Boytsov had 5fights for 5KOS Wladimir Klitschko have 0% chance of going UD/12rounds. Good one.
No it isn't like saying that at all. What a ridiculous and nonsensical comparison. Tua had a long career and fought a large number of quality opponents in his time. Yes, he lost at the very top levels of the sport, but that wasn't my point. My point was that if Tua knocked you down there was only a very very slim chance that you'd survive. In his prime, none at all. I said nothing about his ability to win against the very best. As for the fighters who were in his class, how about: Ruiz (both he and Tua were considered good prospects at the time) Wilson (likewise) Rahman (leading on scorecards at time of stoppage) Maskaev (close fight on cards at time of stoppage) Moorer (bit of a question mark that, but Moorer was still a former champ) Cameron (tipped by many to beat the old Tua) There were a number of guys who, on paper, had the tools to beat Tua, but got bombed out and stopped.
No it isn't a ridiculous comparison if you knew anything about statistics. But I see its OK for you to add in bums to his total numbers but i'm not allowed to in my comparison? What a joke,Cameron?Moorer?Wilson? Pathetic. Why didn't you mention Lewis,Byrd,Ibeabuchi,Rahman?(LOL he was knocked out by Lewis,Evander and Tua couldn't KO him despite low confidence and a sore head) You're kidding yourself. Good fighter to watch. but ATG great hitter? NO WAY
